Caye Caves Where are you from? McGregor, Texas When did you start barrel racing? I started barrel racing at the age of 9. Are you involved in any other equine events? Not at this time. At the Age of 6 I started riding a pony named Blondie in local horse shows in Western Pleasure. At 7 I moved up to a big horse and started participating in local Playdays, in all of the events western pleasure, cloverleaf and straightaway barrels, pole bending, flag race. At 9 I started riding Western Pleasure at Quarter Horse and 4-H shows. I also showed Horsemanship, showmanship at the 4-H shows. But at the current time the only equine event I am involved in is Barrel Racing. Who or What got you started barrel racing? My Mom & Dad got me started in riding horses, and from there I started barrel racing. What was the name of your favorite horse and tell us a little about it. I have been very fortunate to have several nice horses since I have started riding, just to list a few Cowboy Barshone and Beth’s Doc Solano both Western Pleasure Horses . Some of my most recent favorite horses are Royal Quick Maid, Tee’s Windy Lynn which are the two mares I am currently hauling. I guess I listed all of the above due to I have done most of my winning on them. What are some of the events that you have won (or races that stand out in your mind)? 1st Western Pleasure District 4_H Horse Show, 9-12 All Around Champion Central Texas Horse Show, 1St Place 7-12 Western Pleasure Open State Horse Show, 1998 Top 25 Novice Horse CTBRA, Top 5 Novice Horse Division CTBRA 1999 & 2000 , 2001 Reserve Champion Novice Horse CTBRA, Sept. 2002 Won 3-D D & G Waco , Oct. 2002 Won 3-D D & G San Antonio. 2002 Top 10 Open CTBRA, 2002 Top 25 Novice Horse CTBRA, 2002 D & G Year End 3rd in 3-D. Over the years have you noticed any changes in barrel racing what are the good or bad you've seen? The good changes that have been made over the years is all the added money. What is do you think of an equal pay out 4d? I like the equal payout in the 4-D Do you think of yourself as a professional barrel racer? No If your not a professional barrel racer what do you do for a living? I am a Lending Assistant at Extraco Banks, NA in McGregor, I have been in employed with Extraco Banks for 11 years.
