Dynamite Contestants at the “Snowy” Blazin’ Barrels Race!

Contestants braved the inclement weather and traveled from as far away as Salina, Kansas, and even Albuquerque, New Mexico, to take home some of the $9000 in cash and prizes that was awarded at the January 3 & 4, Blazin’ Barrels Winter Buckle Series held in Colorado Springs.  Snow and below freezing temperatures made the traveling slow, but the times turned in were still smokin’!  The Presenting Sponsor for the weekend was Hitchin’ Post Trailer Sales of Lake George, Colorado.  Hitchin' Post has been in business for 16 years, and is proud of a knowledgeable staff that can help plan your needs, especially if you want to customize a trailer.  They are known for their customer satisfaction and offer full service and repair, with a wide range of Sooner accessories and replacement parts in stock.  Turning in the hottest time of the weekend was Karen Turek on Major Bully with a speedy time of 15.413.  They trotted to the bank with $396 for their efforts in the cold.  Following close behind was Lana Peterson and Roman Tease who turned in a 15.638 on Saturday for 4^th in the 1D and a 15.497 on Sunday for the Open 4D win, taking home more than $400 for their weekend in the snow.

As always, an abundance of awards were given out at the race produced by TNT Events.  Awards by Jones Leather Mfg. were given out in the Open 4D as well as goodies from Wrangler, Classic Equine, Cowboy Magic and more!  Justin Boot Company is excited to be giving away 2 pair of boots each weekend of the Blazin’ Barrels Winter Buckle Series.  The lucky winners at this race were Erin Walker from Brookville, Kansas and Sherri Massey from Rawlins, Wyoming.  A new pair of boots for the New Year, compliments of Justin Boot Company! 

Series-end awards will be given to 1^st - 3^rd place in each of the Open 4D Divisions.  Bob Berg Buckles, custom-made breast collars and Wrangler products are some of the items up for grabs!  Current buckle standings still show Lana Peterson holdin’ on tight for the 1D Buckle and Kathy Gannon burnin’ a trail to the 2D Buckle.  Ardith Bruce is setting the pace for the 3D Buckle and Karen Taylor is at the head of the pack for the 4D Buckle, followed closely by De Chapman, Brea Burmeister and Cheryl Mitten.  The heat is on, so mark those calendars NOW for the Grand Finale of the Blazin’ Barrels Winter Buckle Series –  March 13 & 14 in Colorado Springs!  Also mark those 2004 calendars for the Rocky Mountain Super Races which will be held April 30, May 1 & 2 AND September 4, 5 and 6.  Both with lots of added money, awards and good times!
