America\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Horse, May 14, 2007 <\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u201c The doors are opening to the new, state-of-the-art American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum, and you are cordially invited to walk among legends at the grand opening June 9, 2007.<\/p>\n

Immerse yourself in the American Quarter Horse the second you step foot into the newly renovated American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum. From the soaring stone pillars of the Grand Hall to the highly interactive Education Gallery, you will have a distinct opportunity to connect with America\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Horse in ways never before possible.<\/p>\n

Every step in your journey through the building reveals precious art and artifacts that come alive to tell the story of the world\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s most versatile breed and the people and horses that fueled the world\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s passion for it.<\/p>\n

BUILDING RENOVATION;<\/strong><\/p>\n

* Original Building totaled 36,000 sq. feet
\n* New Configuration totals 44,000 sq. feet
\n* New building configuration focuses on useable space, future
\nexhibit expansion for longer life and better accessibility as well
\nas more useful multi-purpose spaces.
\n* Artifact Storage areas increase from 1,800 sq. feet to 2,800 sq.
\nfeet, featuring state-of-the-art climate control and fire
\nsuppression.
\n* Quarter Horse Outfitters adds, through reconfiguring existing
\nspaces, 1,600 sq. feet of much needed shipping and receiving space
\nand re-configured lockable storage spaces for inventory control.
\n* The creation of 6,000 sq. feet of more useful and accessible
\nmulti-purpose rooms that will provide theater, meeting, banquet
\nand temporary exhibit space through re-configuring existing spaces.<\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 NEW HALL OF FAME EXHIBITS<\/strong><\/p>\n

* The Dogwood Horse, a life-size sculpture of the horse depicted in
\nthe Orren Mixer painting \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Ideal American Quarter Horse\u00e2\u20ac\u009d will greet
\nvisitors when they enter the foyer of the Hall of Fame.
\n* A donor recognition area will be presented in the foyer opposite
\nthe sculpture.
\n* The Grand Hall presents the Hall of Fame inductees by year of
\ninduction in a format that will allow approximately 15 years of
\nexpansion at the current rate of induction.
\n* Grand Hall will contain the Hall of Fame plaques displayed by year
\nof induction.
\n* Stone in the Grand Hall and Front Entry was quarried in Paris,
\nArkansas, and has a total weight of 93,000 lbs.
\n* The Medallion in the Grand Hall, which will be the focal point and
\nbackdrop for presentations, is 13 feet in diameter and was
\nsculpted from 1,400 lbs. of clay.
\n* The American Quarter Horse Foundation bloodline chart is etched
\ninto the floor of the Grand Hall.
\n* The Timeline Exhibit presents the Hall of Fame inductees in a
\ntimeline format.\u00c2\u00a0 Each inductee will have a space devoted to
\npersonal artifacts and historical memorabilia presented in the era
\nthat they made their greatest impact on the breed or AQHA.
\n* The three-tiered timeline that will present world history events,
\nAQHA milestones and American Quarter Horse breed milestones along
\nwith the Hall of Fame inductees gives historical context to the
\ninductees\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 achievements.
\n* The Champions Gallery will showcase AQHA World Champions through
\nan interactive, searchable film database.
\n* Six interactive multi-media stations along with two family-sized
\nmini theaters will provide an in-depth look into the history of
\nthe American Quarter Horse and the Hall of Fame inductees through
\na searchable film database.
\n* The Joni Hegel Education Gallery will give visitors an orientation
\nto the American Quarter Horse and general horse care, activities
\nand careers.
\n* Quarter Horse Outfitters will have an updated look to match the
\nd\u00c3\u00a9cor of the new Hall of Fame and also will have a reconfigured
\nfloor plan that increases useable space.<\/p>\n
