{"id":1070,"date":"2007-06-19T22:31:04","date_gmt":"2007-06-19T15:31:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/?p=1070"},"modified":"2007-06-19T22:31:04","modified_gmt":"2007-06-19T15:31:04","slug":"aqha-trail-trotters-participates-in-national-trails-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/industry\/aqha-trail-trotters-participates-in-national-trails-day\/","title":{"rendered":"AQHA Trail Trotters Participates in National Trails Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>America\u2019s Horse, June 18, 2007<\/em> \u2013 The American Quarter Horse Association\u2019s newest program \u2013 Trail Trotters \u2013 participated in National Trails Day June 2 with horseback riders and trail users banding together to complete trail restoration projects across the country.<\/p>\n<p>This year, approximately 500 volunteers participated in 22 trail restoration projects in 13 states, from Maine to Washington.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited about this new program,\u201d said Stephanie McCommon, AQHA Manager of Membership Services. \u201cWe appreciate the horse enthusiasts who dedicate their time to land stewardship, and we hope to see even more participants in 2008.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>National Trails Day is an annual event celebrated every June since 1992. This day unifies horseback riders and other trail users in an effort to build and strengthen relationships between local equestrian communities, the forest service and other land managers for the long-term stewardship of trails.<\/p>\n<p>With AQHA now directing this program, it will become a month-long project rather than just one day. So, equestrians are encouraged to complete trail conservation projects anytime during the month of June.
