Ranch Life 102, located on the spectacular V6 Ranch in Parkfield, Calif., is your opportunity to spend some time by yourself in the saddle or with friends and family enjoying authentic ranch life. National Cowgirl Hall of Fame Honoree Sheila Varian will be there to demonstrate her Vaquero Horsemanship skills that have made her one of the most well-known and well-respected Arabian horsewoman in the world as well as the talented Varian Family.<\/p>\n<p>Ranch Life 102 begins with a &#8220;Ranch Talk&#8221; by host and instructor Jack Varian. He and his wife Zera along with their family have lived and worked on the V6 Ranch for almost 50 years. Both are an accomplished pair \u2013 Jack is a ranchland conservationist and recipient of the 2006 Leopold Award for conservation practices; Zera is an award-winning horsewoman, training and showing stock horses for 40 years. Their family includes talented horsemen and horsewomen and is proud to welcome Cowgirl U&#8217;s Ranch Life 102 to the V6 Ranch. Ranch Life 102 is open to men, women and children ages 12 to 18 and costs $750 per person; $1,200 per couple; $500 for children. This includes all your meals, ranch activities offered exclusively for Ranch Life 102 and camping facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a look at the weekend&#8217;s activities:<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Horsemanship and trail riding<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Follow Zera Varian down the trail learning new horsemanship techniques along the way.<br \/>\nRoping dummy calves on foot and Hot Heals on horse<br \/>\nGrab your rope and catch the calf \u2013 dummy that is \u2013 on foot to practice your rope tying skills.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re ready to take it to the next level, get in the saddle and follow a moving dummy to put all your skills together while horseback.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Knot tying\/hat shaping<\/span><br \/>\nLearn to properly tie knots, a handy skill while being out on the ranch.<br \/>\nObserve hat shaping in progress and watch a limp hat come alive with style.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Swimming and fishing<\/span><br \/>\nTake a dip or sit on the banks waiting for the fish to bite on Durham Lake located on the V6 Ranch.<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Team sorting<\/span><br \/>\nLearn to pen cattle as a team with other Cowgirl U participants and work together accomplishing a vital ranch activity.<br \/>\nBreakfast and dinner at the Ranch House<br \/>\nLunch out on the Ranch<br \/>\nWestern entertainment and a closing awards ceremony<\/p>\n<p>Whether it&#8217;s trail riding or learning how to work cattle horseback or a little of both, you will be in the company of working cowgirls and cowboys who pride themselves as caretakers of the land. Proceeds from Cowgirl U benefit the National Cowgirl museum and Hall of Fame\u2019s education department.<\/p>\n<p>The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame honors and documents the lives of women who have distinguished themselves while exemplifying the pioneer spirit of the American West. Located at 1720 Gendy St. in Fort Worth\u2019s Cultural District, the museum includes interactive exhibit galleries, three theaters, a retail store and a grand rotunda housing the Hall of Fame. The museum is open seven days a week \u2013 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
