{"id":149,"date":"2005-09-02T05:52:28","date_gmt":"2005-09-01T22:52:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/?p=149"},"modified":"2005-09-02T05:55:00","modified_gmt":"2005-09-01T22:55:00","slug":"online-scams-emerge-in-katrinas-wake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/computer\/online-scams-emerge-in-katrinas-wake\/","title":{"rendered":"Online scams emerge in Katrina&#8217;s wake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong> Hurricane Katrina has spawned more than misery and destruction&#8211;a new wave of scam e-mails and Web sites are exploiting the tragedy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Phony Web sites and e-mails, purporting to offer help to hurricane victims or provide more news on the destruction, are making their rounds on the Internet, security experts said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>One spam campaign that&#8217;s circulating offers breaking news reports but tricks people into clicking a link that takes them to a bogus Web site, according to security firm Sophos.
