{"id":1870,"date":"2008-12-20T01:58:10","date_gmt":"2008-12-19T18:58:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/?p=1870"},"modified":"2008-12-20T01:58:10","modified_gmt":"2008-12-19T18:58:10","slug":"ncsl-supports-horse-industry-humane-horse-slaughter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/industry\/ncsl-supports-horse-industry-humane-horse-slaughter\/","title":{"rendered":"NCSL Supports Horse Industry, Humane Horse Slaughter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<table border=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px;\">The National Council of State Legislatures (NCSL) this weekend adopted a policy that urges Congress to oppose legislation that would restrict the market, transport, processing, or export of horses, to recognize the need for humane horse processing facilities in the U.S. and not to interfere with state efforts to establish facilities in the United States.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px;\">The passage of the policy provides the authority for NCSL staff in Washington, D.C., to lobby on Capitol Hill as it effectively establishes the position of the states. NCSL is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the nation&#8217;s 50 states, its commonwealths and territories.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px;\">The Horse Industry Policy received overwhelming majority support at the NCSL annual fall forum in Atlanta, Ga., Dec. 11-13.
