{"id":2078,"date":"2009-03-20T10:26:45","date_gmt":"2009-03-20T03:26:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/?p=2078"},"modified":"2009-03-20T10:26:45","modified_gmt":"2009-03-20T03:26:45","slug":"aqha-debuts-greener-pastures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/industry\/aqha-debuts-greener-pastures\/","title":{"rendered":"AQHA DEBUTS GREENER PASTURES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><em>America<\/em><em>\u2019s Horse, March 19, 2009 \u2013 <\/em>American Quarter Horse owners love their horses \u2013 past, present and future \u2013 and many want to keep track of those horses even after they are sold.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">The American Quarter Horse Association developed the Greener Pastures program to reunite breeders and previous owners with horses they remember well. Through the free Greener Pastures program,\u00a0<span class=\"normal\">AQHA members will be able to indicate on a horse\u2019s registration certificate that if the horse ever becomes unwanted, unusable or simply ready for retirement that the member will \u2013 if possible \u2013 assist in providing or finding a suitable home.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span class=\"normal\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">The free, voluntary program does not guarantee that a buyback or exchange of money will occur nor that a horse is assured a home \u2013 situations can and do change. It allows members an opportunity to keep track of and provide for the long-term care of horses they\u2019ve bred or owned. However, you must be an AQHA member to sign up for or enroll a horse in the program. Go to<em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aqhamembers.com\/\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">www.aqhamembers.com<\/span><\/a><\/em> to sign in with your AQHA member ID and personal identification number.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span class=\"normal\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">\u201cAQHA wants to help responsible horse owners,\u201d said\u00a0Tom Persechino, AQHA executive director of marketing and communications. \u201cWe believe we can better serve the equine industry and help ensure the long-term care of horses we register with this program. By implementing Greener Pastures, we begin to fill a void.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span class=\"normal\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">At AQHA, being \u201cgreen\u201d means more than reducing one\u2019s carbon footprint; it\u2019s actually a much larger issue of social responsibility to the earth and all of its creatures.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span class=\"normal\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">Essentially, the Association will act as a clearinghouse by tracking Greener Pastures-enrolled horses and AQHA members who have indicated the desire to help.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span class=\"normal\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span class=\"normal1\"><span><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\">AQHA news and information is a service of AQHA publications.
