{"id":2836,"date":"2009-12-19T06:28:34","date_gmt":"2009-12-18T23:28:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/?p=2836"},"modified":"2009-12-19T06:29:20","modified_gmt":"2009-12-18T23:29:20","slug":"new-classes-improvements-in-store-for-paint-horse-world-show-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/industry\/new-classes-improvements-in-store-for-paint-horse-world-show-series\/","title":{"rendered":"New classes, improvements in store for Paint Horse World Show Series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\"><strong>Fort Worth,\u00a0TX<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\u2014The American Paint\u00a0Horse Association (APHA) executive committee recently added seven exciting\u00a0classes to its 2010 World Championship Show Series and made\u00a0decisions that will\u00a0continue to make the summer and fall events world-class competitions.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<div><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\"><strong>New classes\u00a0at Summer World Show 2010<\/strong><\/span><\/span><br \/>\nThe Committee\u00a0voted to add seven classes to the schedule at the Summer World Show, which will\u00a0be held June 23 &#8211; July 3 at Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas.<\/p>\n<p>A 3-Year-Old\u00a0Cutting Challenge will return to the class list, after a 5-year hiatus. Its\u00a0inclusion will bring the total count of cutting classes to nine, including the\u00a04-Year-Old Cutting\u00a0Challenge and the 5 &amp; 6-Year-Old Cutting Challenge. APHA\u00a0adds $5,000 to each Challenge class.<\/p>\n<p>A Youth\u00a0Versatility Challenge will be added, with the same four classes and basic\u00a0format as the Hart Non-Pro Versatility Challenge introduced at the 2009 Fall\u00a0World Show. Each horse-and-rider team will compete in hunter under saddle,\u00a0Western pleasure, reining and barrel racing.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally,\u00a0five new Youth Solid Paint-Bred classes will be offered during the Summer World\u00a0Show: showmanship, horsemanship, Western pleasure, halter mares and halter\u00a0geldings.\u00a0The Association hopes that these classes will be a good introductory\u00a0offering for youth showing Solid Paint-Breds.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\"><strong>Judges\u2019\u00a0monitor<\/strong><\/span><\/span><br \/>\nThe Association\u00a0will continue its program to ensure judging is up to its highest standards by\u00a0hiring a judges\u2019 monitor who will oversee the judging at the World Show.\u00a0Beginning this year,\u00a0the judges\u2019 monitor will be a separate position from the\u00a0horse show manager position, allowing a greater focus on the judging throughout\u00a0the show.<\/p>\n<p>There will be an\u00a0expanded focus on class preparation, increased video reviews and continuous\u00a0monitoring and evaluation of the judging. The goal is to increase\u00a0accountability and quality of\u00a0judging overall.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\"><strong>World Show\u00a0Qualifying Proposal decision<\/strong><\/span><\/span><br \/>\nAfter careful\u00a0consideration, the executive committee decided against instituting a qualifying\u00a0element to World Show competition at this time. According to APHA, the decision\u00a0was made\u00a0with the best interest of members given the current economic\u00a0situation, in combination with recent changes that have already been made to the\u00a0World Show format.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\"><strong>Fall World\u00a0Show sale<\/strong><\/span><\/span><br \/>\nAPHA also\u00a0announced that a select Paint Horse sale will be held in conjunction with the\u00a0Fall World Show on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010.<\/p>\n<p>The sale will be\u00a0limited to 50 select head of show prospects, show horses and broodmares. All\u00a0horses must be nominated to the APHA Breeders\u2019 Trust incentive program\u00a0(broodmares\u00a0must be in foal to stallions subscribed to the Breeders\u2019 Trust).<\/p>\n<p>More details\u00a0will become available as the show dates approach. The 2010 Summer World Championship\u00a0Show is scheduled for June 23 through July 3. The Fall World Championship\u00a0Show\u00a0is scheduled for November 4-13.
