The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame was the only North Texas venue chosen to display these rich fabrics of history.

Sponsored by the Center for Texas Studies at Texas Christian University and Frost Bank, “Texas Flags” was curated by Dr. Robert Maberry, Jr. and includes several significant flags that represented Texas through its independence from Mexico, the Civil War and World War II. Each flag was carefully conserved as to ensure the original fabrics were not penetrated in any way to avoid accelerating their deterioration.

“Many of these flags will never be exhibited again because they are too fragile,” Maberry says. “Light and moisture are the enemies. After this exhibit, the flags will be kept in dark, moisture controlled spaces to preserve them. In 50 to 100 years, these flags will be gone no matter what we do.”

Details:
“Texas Flags” on display at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame will end on Sunday, February 12.
