{"id":3210,"date":"2010-04-06T23:44:24","date_gmt":"2010-04-06T16:44:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/?p=3210"},"modified":"2010-04-06T23:44:24","modified_gmt":"2010-04-06T16:44:24","slug":"horse-slaughtering-bill-clears-missouri-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/industry\/horse-slaughtering-bill-clears-missouri-house\/","title":{"rendered":"Horse-slaughtering bill clears Missouri House"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>JEFFERSON CITY <\/strong>\u2014 The Missouri House has sent a bill to the Senate that would allow horse slaughtering in Missouri.<\/p>\n<p>On a 91-61 vote, the Republican-controlled House passed the legislation Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation seeks to bypass a federal ban on meat inspectors working in horse slaughtering plants by getting processors to pay for the inspections at the state level.<\/p>\n<p>Under the bill, meat processors would pay into a fund to the Missouri Department of Agriculture, which would pass the inspection fees on to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).<\/p>\n<p>Sponsoring Rep.
