{"id":409,"date":"2006-05-02T08:17:19","date_gmt":"2006-05-02T01:17:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/?p=409"},"modified":"2006-05-02T08:17:19","modified_gmt":"2006-05-02T01:17:19","slug":"cowboys-of-color-horses-of-color-work-together-to-preserve-western-lifestyle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/industry\/cowboys-of-color-horses-of-color-work-together-to-preserve-western-lifestyle\/","title":{"rendered":"Cowboys of Color, Horses of Color work together to preserve Western lifestyle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>National Cowboys of Color Museum and Hall of Fame riding tall with American Paint Horse Association<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>FORT WORTH, Texas\u00c2\u2014<\/em> The American Paint Horse is now \u00c2\u201cthe official horse of the National Cowboys of Color Museum and Hall of Fame,\u00c2\u201d its founder, Jim Austin, has announced.<\/p>\n<p>Austin\u00c2\u2019s remarks came after an event held recently at the Fort Worth museum, where the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) added even more color to the institution\u00c2\u2019s collection with the addition of artwork and a beautiful bronze.<\/p>\n<p>APHA also announced its support of the National Cowboys of Color Museum and Hall of Fame and presented a $5,000 check to the organization.<\/p>\n<p>Austin said APHA\u00c2\u2019s support will go a long way toward helping the museum continue to reach out to the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u201cAmerican Paint Horses are beautiful and talented animals,\u00c2\u201d said Austin. \u00c2\u201cWe\u00c2\u2019re happy to display APHA\u00c2\u2019s works of art in our museum, because they will help tell the story of the American West. And every day, we find out more about the strong connection our members have with this remarkable breed. We\u00c2\u2019re two non-profit organizations working together to promote the history of the cowboys and their horses around the nation.\u00c2\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The National Cowboys of Color Museum and Hall of Fame offers visitors a true and complete historical perspective of the people who shaped the unique culture of the American West.\u00c2\u00a0It also recognizes individuals who have contributed to Western culture and play a part in keeping this important piece of American History alive.<\/p>\n<p>APHA, one of the largest and most popular horse breed organizations in the world, registers and maintains programs for people actively involved in equestrian activities. The organization also works to promote American Paint Horses and preserve their history.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u201cOur support of the National Cowboys of Color Museum and Hall of Fame is a natural for us. We share a lot in common,\u00c2\u201d said APHA Director Lex Smurthwaite.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u201cWhen we looked at the last induction roster of the National Cowboys of Color Museum and Hall of Fame, we were surprised that every one of the inductees rode American Paint Horses.
