Since 1983, more than 150 students have been awarded with 409 scholarships, worth more than $407,000.  In the 2005\u00c2\u20132006 academic year alone, 14 new and 22 renewed $1,000 scholarships were awarded.<br \/>\nTo support successful programs like this, the APHF offers breed enthusiasts many ways to get involved.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sales, auctions fund scholarships<\/strong><br \/>\nSeveral of the newest fund-raising projects designed to help the foundation offer scholarships include a cookbook, reduced-rate breedings to champion reining sire Boomernic AQHA, sale of the coffee table book The American Paint Horse: A Photographic Portrayal, and the auction of a pair of hand-crafted Billy Klapper spurs. The spurs will be up for bid during the 2006 World Championship Paint Horse Show\u00c2\u2019s World Showcase Sale on July 1 and on-line prior to the live auction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Returning programs and services<\/strong><br \/>\nSeveral returning incentives that benefit the scholarship program include an annual trainer services sale, which allows the public to purchase one month of an expert\u00c2\u2019s time at a discounted fee; warm-up classes, which provide competitors schooling classes at the APHA World Show; as well as three World Showcase Sale items\u00c2\u2014a Gist bit, a bronze by Clay Gant and a Pro Stepps product package worth $250.<\/p>\n<p>The Foundation also promotes the preservation of Paint Horse history with its returning programs and services, such as the Legacy of Color bronze series. Tax-deductible donations earn contributors bronzes in the series, which depict the various color patterns found in the Paint Horse breed.<\/p>\n<p>Also benefiting APHF\u00c2\u2019s historical goals are a one-of-a-kind pair of spurs from The Masters Collection by Gist Silversmiths. Hand-crafted with sterling silver accents, blued finish and featuring a black and white enameled Paint Horse, they will be available for purchase as a lot in the World Showcase Sale in Fort Worth, Texas, July 1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Donations<\/strong><br \/>\nIn addition to supporting the American Paint Horse Foundation through the purchase of goods and services, tax-deductible donations are also accepted and may be designated for scholarships, historical preservation, research or general use. Items of historical interest to the breed may also be donated.
