When the economy takes a hit many animals pay the price.<\/p>\n

The Illinois Department of Agriculture says more horses have been abandoned as their owners lose paychecks and homes.<\/p>\n

Leaving private rescue groups to try and save them.<\/p>\n

Former racehorse Tiger laid down at nine Monday night and hasn’t been able to get up since.<\/p>\n

“He’s very weak from lack of nutrition, and lack of muscle tone, he was starved for an unknown period.”<\/p>\n

Kami Earlywine bought Tiger to nurse him back to health after his owner couldn’t feed him anymore.<\/p>\n

“Horses are my passion, have always been.”<\/p>\n

But after 12 hours of struggling, Earlywine called for help.<\/p>\n
