How about 150,000 reasons why you should make plans to attend the world\u2019s premier Youth Paint Horse show? <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/YthHalterScholarship.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/YthHalterScholarship-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"YthHalterScholarship\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-6664\" \/><\/a>More than $150,000 in scholarships for Youth exhibitors will be up for grabs at the 2015 AjPHA Youth World Championship Show, which takes place June 23\u2013July 4 in Fort Worth, Texas. Building upon the work of generous members who have raised $45,000 for scholarships awarded in Youth World Show halter classes plus rookie exhibitor awards, the American Paint Horse Foundation will add another $100,000 for scholarships awarded throughout the show\u2019s world championship performance classes. <\/p>\n<p>Additional groups and individuals have also pledged scholarship funds for special awards, and private donors are invited to pledge $1,000 earmarked for extra scholarships awarded for a class of their choice. Several APHA members have already signed on as scholarship sponsors for their favorite events, so don\u2019t delay. Funds are being collected and distributed by the APHF. To pledge $1,000 for your favorite class or to donate to the general Youth World Show scholarship fund, visit<br \/>\nywcs.apha.com\/awards\/scholarships.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe secret to increasing youth participation isn\u2019t a secret at all,\u201d APHA Executive Director Billy Smith said. \u201cStock shows have known this for years\u2014children need money to go to college. We can\u2019t just pay lip service to increasing our participation, however; we have to put our money where our mouth is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2015 Youth World Show scholarship awards breakdown follows:<\/p>\n<p>Additional Special Award Scholarships<br \/>\n\u2022 All-Around Youth 14\u201318, 13 &#038; Under and Novice Youth: $1,000 scholarships (each)<br \/>\n\u2022 Power Performance High-Point Award: $1,000 scholarships (champion and reserve champion), courtesy of the Permian Basin and Cross Timbers Paint Horse Clubs<br \/>\n\u2022 Robyn Hanna Sportsmanship Award: $1,000 scholarship<br \/>\n\u2022 AjPHA\/ApHC Horse Judging Contest: $500 scholarships to the Junior and Senior High-Point Individuals<br \/>\n\u2022 Rebecca Baker Memorial Scholarship: $1,800 in scholarships awarded in Reining 14\u201318, Reining 13 &#038; Under and Novice Youth Reining<\/p>\n<p>Halter Classes<br \/>\nMore than $45,000 in scholarships will be presented to exhibitors in the show\u2019s 10 halter classes, awarded for first\u2013sixth place, as well as rookie exhibitor awards. Funds for these scholarships have been donated by generous APHA members in an effort spearheaded by Judy Ford\u2014click here for a list of halter scholarship donors. Each class features $4,500 in scholarships; the breakdown is as follows: <\/p>\n<p>1st Place: $1,250 scholarship<br \/>\n2nd Place: $1,000 scholarship<br \/>\n3rd Place: $750 scholarship<br \/>\n4th Place: $600 scholarship<br \/>\n5th Place: $500 scholarship<br \/>\n6th Place: $400 scholarship<\/p>\n<p>Performance Classes<br \/>\nA total of 71 performance classes at the Youth World Show will include scholarships awarded to first\u2013 through third-place winners, as well as a randomly drawn exhibitor. Scholarships will range between $1,300 and $2,300 per performance class.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifying is NOT required to participate in the Youth World Show. Remember to make plans to participate in the APHA\/NSBA Color of Money show immediately preceding the Youth World Show June 23\u201325, featuring 90 percent payback in all classes for Youth, Amateurs and Open riders aboard approved color breeds.
