{"id":6925,"date":"2002-11-03T18:30:16","date_gmt":"2002-11-04T00:30:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/?p=6925"},"modified":"2016-03-09T23:25:37","modified_gmt":"2016-03-10T05:25:37","slug":"southwest-feed-bayou-classic-gives-out-over-15000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/industry\/southwest-feed-bayou-classic-gives-out-over-15000\/","title":{"rendered":"Southwest Feed Bayou Classic Gives out over $15,000"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>November 2-3, 2002<br \/>\nAcadiana Fairgrounds SugArena<br \/>\nNew Iberia, LA<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ebarrelracing.com\/barrel-racing-results\/2002-southwest-feed-bayou-classic-results\/\" target=\"_blank\">Click here <\/a>to view the results for the 2002 Bayou Classic<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The 2002 Southwest Feed Bayou Classic paid out $13,830 in cash with 326 contestants competing during the weekend of November 2nd and 3rd at the SugArena in New Iberia.\u00a0 There was a total of $4,000 added to the event bringing contestants from Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana together.\u00a0 Contestants enjoyed unique Cajun cuisine and hospitality.\u00a0 Awards were given to those contestants that were \u201cjust a tad too fast\u201d for the 2D, 3D, and 4D as well as those contestants that were a \u201ctad too slow\u201d, or one out of the money in each division.\u00a0 Trophy buckles were presented to the average winners long with awards through 5th place in each division.\u00a0 Cash and prizes presented for the weekend totaled over $15,000!<\/p>\n<p>Major sponsors of the event included Southwest Feed &amp; Farm Supply of Youngsville, LA, Nutrena Feed, Regional Fabricators and Fox Transportation of New Iberia, LA, and Deep South Petroleum of Broussard, LA.\u00a0 Pellerin Farms and Rick\u2019s Towing and Recovery of Lafayette, LA also showed their support.\u00a0 Acadiana Barrel Racing Association hosted the weekend of barrel racing.<br \/>\nThe first run on Saturday was won by Beannie Roth of Houma, LA aboard her black horse \u201c95\u201d with a 16.163 for $566.\u00a0 2D winner was Hes A True Cherry ridden by Brandon Halterien of Pass Christian, MS with a 16.677.\u00a0 The pair took home $502.\u00a0 Lacy Spano of Lake Charles, LA won the 3D for $375 riding Entire Inventory, affectionately known as Bud, with a 17.173.\u00a0 The 4D winner was Marlene Primeaux of Erath, LA aboard Streak with an 18.207 good for $311.<\/p>\n<p>Amanda Rutledge of Bellville, TX ran the fastest time of the weekend on Sunday aboard her great horse Tidy Fortune with a 15.879 to win the 1D.\u00a0 The pair took home a $537 check for their effort.\u00a0 Melissa Meche of Washington, LA won the 2D aboard her sorrel gelding Hurry Up Seven with a 16.430, winning $479.\u00a0 3D winner was Megan Troglen of Scott, LA riding Sham Significant with a 16.882 for $362.
