{"id":701,"date":"2006-10-24T22:50:01","date_gmt":"2006-10-24T15:50:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/?p=701"},"modified":"2006-10-24T22:50:01","modified_gmt":"2006-10-24T15:50:01","slug":"american-paint-horse-association-hosts-successful-convention-in-san-antonio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/industry\/american-paint-horse-association-hosts-successful-convention-in-san-antonio\/","title":{"rendered":"American Paint Horse Association hosts successful convention in San Antonio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>FORT WORTH, TEXAS<\/strong>\u00e2\u20ac\u201dThe American Paint Horse Association\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s (APHA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s) Annual Convention and Membership Meeting concluded recently in San Antonio, Texas, where about 100 leaders of the association met to elect the group\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s executive committee, decide on rule change proposals and work within committees to continue to advance the popular horse breed organization.<\/p>\n<p>APHA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s newly elected executive committee now includes:<br \/>\nPresident Richard Cox, Knightstown, Ind.<br \/>\nPresident-elect Carl Thurow, Wichita, Kan.<br \/>\nVice President John Corbin, Colorado Springs, Color.<br \/>\nSenior Committee Member Linda Vance, Winlock, Wash.<br \/>\nFifth Committee Member Dr. Travis Titlow, Lincoln, Calif.<br \/>\nSixth Committee Member Scot Jackson, Stephenville, Texas<br \/>\nImmediate Past President Carl Parker, Marriott-Slaterville, Utah<\/p>\n<p>The APHA executive committee will help lead the 100,000-member horse<br \/>\nbreed organization for the upcoming year.<\/p>\n<p>In other action, APHA directors voted on legislation that specifically addressed the issue of registering cloned horses. Directors decided that horses produced by any cloning process will not eligible for APHA registration. For a complete list of approved rule changes, <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"APHA Rules\" href=\"http:\/\/apha.com\/forms\/rulebooks.html\">apha.com\/forms\/rulebooks.html<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Also during the convention, APHA took time to recognize several of its exemplary regional clubs. Select clubs were awarded \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Gold Star\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Clubs of Distinction\u00e2\u20ac\u009d status.<\/p>\n<p>Gold Star Clubs excel in their service to members by hosting fundraising activities, benefits, social gatherings, youth activities and special promotions. They are also involved in community service.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s award-winning Gold Star Club recipients included:<br \/>\n\u00c2\u00b7 Empire State Paint Horse Club<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7 Gulf Coast Paint Horse Club<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7 Minnesota Paint Horse Association<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7 Nebraska Paint Horse Club<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7 New England Paint Horse Club<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7 South Dakota Paint Horse Club<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7 Texas Paint Horse Club<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7 Washington State Paint Horse Club<\/p>\n<p>Clubs of Distinction honors were awarded to five clubs selected from among the Gold Star Clubs. Three clubs earned Clubs of Distinction Honorable Mention. These clubs undergo an extensive application process and provide detailed examples of their accomplishments.<\/p>\n<p>Clubs of Distinction award-winners included:<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7 Garden State Paint Horse Club<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7 Indiana Paint Horse Club<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7 New England Paint Horse Club<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7 Rocky Mountain Paint Horse Association<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7 Washington State Paint Horse Club<\/p>\n<p>Honorable mentions went to:<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7 Delmarva Paint Horse Club<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7 Pennsylvania Paint Horse Club<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7 Texas Paint Horse Club<\/p>\n<p>APHA also recognized an outstanding member, Pauli Crull of Monticello, Indiana, with its Distinguished Service Award. It is one of the highest honors a member can receive.<\/p>\n<p>Crull was recognized for more than 30 years of dedicated service to APHA, including 29 years on the association\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s board of directors.<\/p>\n<p>APHA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s next Annual Convention will be held October 3-6, 2007, in Louisville, Kentucky.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nMore information<\/strong><br \/>\nCurrently, American Paint Horses are being registered at APHA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Fort Worth, Texas, headquarters at a rate of more than 40,000 horses each year. APHA has registered more than 870,000 horses in 49 nations and territories since it was founded 44 years ago, and now serves more than 100,000 active members around the world.
