The Tennessee departments of Agriculture and Health are advising citizens to take precautions to protect themselves and their livestock.<\/p>\n<p>Mosquitoes transmit EEE. Humans cannot contract these viral infections directly from infected horses. However, mosquito-borne diseases do pose a public health risk.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Although Tennessee has never had a documented human case of EEE, it is important for the public to remember mosquito-borne diseases including EEE and <a title=\"Articles on the site about WNV\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ebarrelracing.com\/articles\/?tag=west-nile-virus\">West Nile virus <\/a>can occur each summer,&#8221; medical entomologist Dr.\u00a0<strong>Abelardo Moncayo<\/strong>\u00a0said. &#8220;Fortunately, the prevention measures are similar for EEE and other mosquito-borne diseases.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.murfreesboropost.com\/virus-fatal-to-horses-humans-detected-in-state-cms-44874\">Click here<\/a> for the rest of the story.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EEE kills up to 90 percent of the horses infected.
