The more than 7,000\u00e2\u20ac\u201cmember American Junior Paint Horse Association (AjPHA) recently launched an on-line store, located at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cafepress.com\/ajpha\">cafepress.com\/ajpha<\/a> , as part of its 2007 Presidential Service Project, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153One Stride at a Time\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. The project is an annual good-will endeavor that encourages all APHA Youth members to give back to their communities and is chosen by each incoming AjPHA president.<\/p>\n<p>One Stride at a Time, created by AjPHA President Laura Akerlund of Grafton, Wis., to raise money for cancer research, expands the scope of the project in 2007 to allow the public to participate through opportunities like the on-line store, which will donate all proceeds from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cafepress.com\/ajpha\">cafepress.com\/ajpha<\/a> to the cause.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153All of us know someone who has survived, passed away from or has been diagnosed with cancer. This is for them,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Akerlund in an AjPHA video announcing the project at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ajpha.com\">ajpha.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The public may also become involved with One Stride at a Time through APHA regional clubs, which are local groups comprised of Paint Horse adult and Youth members from specific geographic areas. Regional clubs have the opportunity to hold fund-raising events and participate in cancer walks and runs in their respective communities. At the end of the summer in 2007, funds will be gathered and these affiliates will be allowed the option of either donating the money to a charitable foundation or to an individual in their community who is fighting cancer.<\/p>\n<p>For their efforts, the clubs are eligible for the 2007 From the Heart Award\u00e2\u20ac\u201dgiven by AjPHA to the club that raises the most money and displays the highest level of dedication to the project. The From the Heart prize, a $500 cash award presented by long-time APHA Corporate Sponsor Markel Insurance, will be presented at the 2007 World Championship Paint Horse Show, set for June 24\u00e2\u20ac\u201cJuly 7 in Fort Worth, Texas.t\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The American Junior Paint Horse Association is excited to present the public with this opportunity to support the fight against cancer,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Director of Youth Activities Betsy Francis. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153With One Stride at a Time, a person may help at whatever level works best for them\u00e2\u20ac\u201dfrom purchasing an item on-line to becoming involved with their local regional club\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s community projects.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the fund-raiser and how to get involved, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ajpha.com\">ajpha.com<\/a>, where you can also view the video of Akerlund speaking about the project.
