Title: Humphrey Benefit...... Packing Up And Getting Ready For WBR @ CONROE!!!!!!!
Post by: josies jockey on January 18, 2008, 07:39:01 PM
OK!!  THESE ARE BIDS FOR THE LAST UPDATE BEFORE CONROE!!!!!!

Those without a bid placed are feeling very left out........Jody and both of the girls are suppose to be in Conroe!!  Hopefully they will be able to attend and visit with everyone.. Jas and Jes both want to thank everyone who has helped out!  Jody found out that the surgen/doctors used at Memorial Herman's Children are "out of the network" of her insurance soooooo she WILL NOT change doctors now..she will have a lot more out of pocket expenses with the follow up.. BUT Jasmine is doing great!!  Look forward to seeing everyone in Conroe!!  I will have ALL the auction items there for the Friday evening preformance (cant take off work for Friday) also Sat, and Sunday.. HUGE thanks to Bobby and the WBR Team!!

well thanks!!!       its easy when your doing something for a friend and also to help someone out!  Jody and the girls would do ANYTHING for me so the least I can do is try to return the favor.... And it easy when you have the support and backing of your other friends.... It has been time consuming but all in all a labor of love..... And the response has floored even me!!  There have been soooo many people come up and offer help, what can they do?  (and I can and will delegate)    .. and poor canchasinroper..... she has worked her little fingers off getting the website up and LOOKING GOOD!!!!!!  And more stuff is coming in!! Keep an eye on the website for updated pictures and more goodies.......

We raise parakeets and for some odd reason one of the female birds thought she'd hatch a baby in the middle of winter.  Well it fell out of the box only half feathered and I have hand fed it until it is now eating on it's own.  I want to donate the pretty little bird complete with cage, feeders and feed to the benefit.  I will bring it this Sunday Feb 10 to the jackpot to go in the auction.  It is a very pretty blue and gray bird and still too early to tell the sex.  My dog, Riley, thinks it is his friend as he tries to talk to it and will lay under the cage during the day.  Being hand fed he is tame.  We call the bird "Bobbie Bobble Bird" because before he got all his feathers his head would bobble like those bobble toys and he would chirp...was so funny!
I hope he goes to a good home and brings in some cash for the Humphreys!

new update on Jas:
went back to neurologist today and they did a CT scan, he said there is still substantial blood on the brain but it is not currently bleeding.  he said that her body will absorb the blood but it will take time.  she has dark circles under her eyes and this is why.  he said it could take a year for all the blood to absorb.  he said her head should still be treated as very fragile!  we were concerned about a bump or knot that was on her head near her hair line.  we learned today that it is a plastic plate that he inserted during surgery to hold the portion of the skull that was removed during surgery back in place.  this plastic plate and the stitches holding it to her skull will dissolve in time also! wow i did not know they could do such a thing, that is awesome!  he said that he chose the plastic plate over the metal one because the metal one is held by screws and it is more painful, permanent and you would be able to feel it.... plus she would be setting off some security devices!  she was very saddened to hear that she still can not ride her horses or participate in gymnastics which is her 2 favorite things in the whole world...  she can not participate in PE at school either, she said that makes her feel weird and different and wasn't thrilled about that either.  we will return for another CT scan in early march.  we are hoping at this time that the bone is attaching and the blood is absorbing as it should.   We are just thankful that Jas is the same ole jazzy and is going to be just fine!  Jessica is thankful that jas will be fine and is looking forward to keeping her horses in shape.  Jas gave her the ok to ride them today after returning from the doctor.  Jazzy's goal is to be back in the saddle by youth world in July.  I just wanted to thank everyone for all the prayers and generosity shown during jazzy's recovery.  :TIGGER:

Great news from he Humhrey Girls....Hope things will turn around for them.  Jasmine's time off will be qik and a full recovey is the main thing.  I know that is hard for a child but lots of movies and dvd's hopefully can fill the gap.  Hermann was a great hospital for Jazz especially the dissolving plastic instead of metal.  I have never even heard of dissolving plastic...I guess that is why I am not a brain surgeon.

It was so good to see you hanging out at the last barrel race and see Jess back up on the ponies.  It looks like it is going to be beautiful day for the benefit race.  We have three horses out right now with abscesses, if they get better by Sunday we will be there!

She has to be healing nicely for the dr to give her that compensation....Hopefully she will make youth World to ride....
Sunday is the day to help out her and her family.  If you have a heart come out ride, eat and shop!!!!!  Our most favorite things to do  ride, eat and shop!!!!!

HI EVERYONE..

We would like to respectfully request that no one bring any items on Sunday that has not been coordinated and discussed with Kayla.

At this time, the auction has grown to nearly unmanageable status and our trailers are full of stuff that we will need to control until the auction end on March 2... it is going to be a chore on Sunday, so please bear with us.

We appreciate everyone's donations and willingness to help, and the benefit is sure to be a huge success. Thank you for your cooperation!
:-D

Kayla can I bring Bobbie Bobble Bird? and have him in the auction on Sunday?  I had asked Sharon and she thought it would be fine...didn't know what else to do. :((((.  I just can't keep it until March 2nd.
let me know.

Bobbie is doing acrobatics in his cage now. he climbs up and slides down or he get's to the top and hangs by one foot.  So funny!!

Yes Ronda you may bring the bird.. BUT if no one takes the bait on him. I CAN NOT take him home.. My 2 house cats would think I brought them a tasty treat..  Donna Thames has expressed an intrest in the bird for her grand daughter but can't make the barrel race on sunday.. So if she gets the bid maybe you can meet her at a GCBRA or something..

Some of us are home from New Caney.. The BBQ went over like gang busters!!!  They sold out of briskets pretty early.. And the ribs??  Oh my you could eat them with a plastic fork!!  The meat just fell off the bones..

The silent auction did very well!! We raised a little over $780 and still have a LOT of stuff to take to WBR @ Conroe!!  I think I heard the BBQ raised over $1000!!

And Bobbie the bird has a new home! Jo Morrissey was nice enough to bid on him!! I will update the items that were sold today and get them to Marie to update the website soon.  Thanks to everyone who came out to support the Humphrey girls!!  Jessica even placed 2nd in the 1D today!!!

Ok...Here is where people were getting confused.  The barrel race was an XTREME barrel race with $500 Added 4-D.  Thanks a bunch to Travis Bishop who is running for constable who gave us the added money.  The BBQ & Silent Auction was for Jess & Jas!!!!  It went very very well.  I think the BBQ raised $1,700 for the girls which was wonderful  8)   The brisket in the crockpot was YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!!!!!  Thanks to Darrin & Clem for doing all the cooking.  Clems dad for making the beans.  The show went great, and Jess even won money on Jas's horse she was 2nd in the 2-D.  So all in all this day was a great one for the Humphreys.  Can't wait to see how WBR goes.  Hope to see the item bids go up.

The barrel race and the benefit for Humphreys was a totally separate event.  However the workers and the directors donated to the Humphrey girls from thier hearts and their paychecks.  Those of you who chose not to come missed a wonderful barrel race with lots of hugs and lots of wonderful comments for Jes and Jaz.  I personally want to thank each and everyone who came out yesterday and you did open your hearts and wallets on the barbeque and silent auction.  It was so wonderful to be able to see Jessica ride again and Jasmine smiling and not too aware of the scar on her skull.  Thats what the silent auction and barbeque was all about friends coming together for these two wonderful children and thank God they are both here after two days of accidents to receive the hugs and well wishes of all the folks who came to the show.  I will never forget the show and the folks who came and all the folks who have donated and spent time gathering, riding, cooking, bidding all because you could help someone who had tragedy strike twice in one weekend.  I can' imagine having both of my children hurt in one weekend like Jody did.  So many people just took the time to come and hug the girls and Jody and thank God they were all ok and then we had a good barrel race and 1st took home $324.  I felt soooo good after the day, I told God I would spend a little more time on my knees and helping others cause it felt so good and made me feel so good.  All you friends that came out and helped I know you feel the same way it was a special day.  When we die, I was taught in church, God will never ask what we did he will ask who did we help and what did we do for others.
The WBR is donating a booth for Jasmine and Jessica at Conroe and remember the race and the booth are separate events...
There will be some great items at the show to bid on for these girls.........

What a wonderful day!  We enjoyed the barrel race and the sunshine and visit with friends.  My horse stepped on himself and pulled a shoe, but seems to be fine.  So it was a great day.  Warmed my heart to see Jessica run down the alleyway.  Way to go girls.  BTW, Mike had his tractor decorated with pink hearts and the girls names, it was quite spiffy!  I really wanted to take home one of those delicious briskets, but missed out and they were all gone by the time I tried to get one.  You guys should give yourselves a pat on the back for a great day!

I thought the barrel race was for the Humphreys as well.......so it was just the bbq and silent auction......the website that has all the information about the auction etc. makes the barrel race look like it is for the girls.....very misleading in my opinion, I know several people that went thinking the race was for them also.

It sounds like everything went well.  Kayla you have really done a great job with all the auction donations.  I sure hope I get something!!!

(Letsgonow) I knew Extreme was doing the barrel race but I thought it was for the Humpries also.  So you aren't the only one.  But I think I read in Sharon's post that all of them gave their money to Jody so that's awesome.  Every little bit helps!!!

I think the confusion comes from the 2 posts posted on page 3 of this thread.  They led me to believe that the whole day was about the girls too, especially since there wasn't an Xtreme Barrel Race on Xtreme's schedule for 2/10/08 according to the web site.  Just a thought of why so many thought it was a non-profit benefit barrel race.  :((((  Please don't flame me, just a thought.

Not doubt I missed a fun day of barrel racing, I always enjoy being around the Xtreme Crew, but poor old Cajun is at swim camp right now, so I participated via internet by bidding on some of the wonderful items being auctioned off.

well i didnt know there was a contraversy but when i went back and read this is what i found..it says "Benefit barbeque and silent auction for Jessica and Jasamine Hymphrey"..just reading it i cant find where it says benefit barrel race for Jessica and Jasmine...it plainly states the barbeque and silent auction were for the girls...maybe that will clear things up if not  :((((

Hey sorry I missed it also-We are back in San Antonio for Casey to show his lamb.  So yesterday to keep from getting to far behind I had to work.  Let me tell you getting into San Antonio with a horse is much easier than a lamb.  We got here at 10:00 and are still in line trying to get into the expo grounds.  Glad to hear the auction is going well and hope to see everyone this weekend at Rosenberg!!  :TIGGER:

Putting on a barrel race comes with bills too.....Even though the added money was there thanks to Tracy Bishop Constable for Prct.2 we still had the expenses of the arena, workers,  insurance, diesel for the tractor etc. Xtreme chose to set up the auction and the barbeque at our scheduled show just like Bobby Barter is doing.  He is not donating the money from the barrel race, he was kind enough to donate us space to show off the auction items as well as send us items for the auction.
Profit from Xtreme barrel race was donated to the girls on an individual basis.
I do not understand the confusion.  We were only trying to help this wonderful family and now it seems you would have come if you knew the race was separate from the benefit or did you not come because you thought the race was the benefit.  I am so confused.  It really does not matter as the race is over.
Judy and any other confused readers,  I am so sorry I caused any confusion about this barrel race or any other barrel race.  No where was it stated a non profit benefit and the workers did donate their money as well as we all did on a voluntary private basis.  Our schedule was given to Sandy Livingston for Gulf coast back in Nov or Dec and to Sandy Maxwell with NBHA 30 and our original date was Feb 2 was a conflict so we took Feb 10 a Sunday.  The web site had not been updated we had been so busy with the other show and the accidents with the girls.  Web update hit the back burner.  I am so sorry to have caused any confusion about this show as we were only trying to help the girls and have donated much time, love and  compassion for this family. We would have done the same and have done the same for others in crunch situations.  Please do not flame us for trying to help.  We love these kids and we love barrel racing and we try to help anyone child or adult that needs our help. We have all stepped up in situations and made things work that might not have gone as well.  We love the sport, the people and the competition and will continue to help anyway we can or when ever we are ask or needed.
The race and the tractors and the food and the auction all benefitted and helped.  We enjoyed doing something that made us feel that good and we thank Bobby Barter for letting us continue this at his show in Conroe.
The weather was beautiful and the atmosphere was light and happy and that is what was needed.
I know Jessica and Jasmine will read this and I hope they know how much everyone loves them and we are sooooo glad to see both of you doing as well as you are.
Kayla has worked MAGIC on the auction items and we cannot thank the donors enough for what they have done.  Poppyseed cake was enjoyed by all who have ever tasted Mr Childers cakes brought by Randa.  Thanks again and again for what you did.
Deb thanks for coming by and supporting the girls with your purchases.....I did not see you but I did see you are out bid on your special item.........Better hit the Kayla hotline.....

This is one of the things I read that made me think that:

Lets have some fun barrel racing and enjoy these wonderful children and help out Mom so she can keep them active and productive

I just assumed Xtreme was putting it on for them to help raise money and through word of mouth it sounded like that so I'm sure that is where some of the confusion is from.

Kayla will you have the amount of the bids on the items at Conroe like at the other shows where you just walk up and write your name and the amount to bid?  It looks like almost everything is getting bids.  Can people still donate things if they want?

 >THUD<  Sorry Sharon, no harm meant, never said I was confused, just pointing out my observation as to why there may have been some misunderstanding of what's what.  I agree with you, don't I know what all it takes to put on a barrel race, suprises around every corner, so I do feel your pain.  Good Job Xtreme! :)/\\

I just wanted to thank everyone who was able to come out yesterday and I'm sorry some of you couldn't make it.  We had a wonderful time.  Thank you Kayla for all your hard work.  Thank you to Xtreme for letting us have the benefit during your race.  Thanks to Lisa Adams and Steve for donating the money you earned working the barrel race to our family.  We really appreciate it and everyone who bought briskets and items from the auction.  Please know how much your thoughts and prayers mean to our family!!!  :cheeze: <NOT WORTHY>

I will try to update with current bids and those that were let go yesterday.. As far as the Stallions... I had a couple of inquiries yesterday about the breedings.. The two paint studs you may breed this year of next..(but the auction item must be paid for on March 2)  Have not gotten in touch with the Fuel Charger owners yet to find out if it must be used this year.. Thanks to everyone who opened their check books and bought stuff yesterday!! Look forward to seeing everyone in Conroe at the WBR!!

The barbeque was soooo good and Clem and Darrin and Stacy stayed up all night cooking to make this great food.  Susan threw in the potatoe salad.  Clems Dad got the bean order a little confused.  We ask him to make beans for 150 and he thought he remembered 400.  WE HAD BEANS FOR AN ARMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I never saw so many beans in one place.  They were awesome and how he did that is amazing.  Everyone had all the beans they could eat, store, carry and the last pot left full enough for 100 or more.....We all had a good laugh over the bean explosion!! Especially Clems Dad.
The Silent Auction items were the best I have ever seen.  Did you see the Circus Painted Breast Collar or the pearl necklace or the web site.  I saw a striped breast collar and headstall with bling come in at the show that was beautiful and the baby bird was beautiful and got a wonderful home...
The directors chair has many bids now and Deb is sweating bullets........
Westernontheweb.com is the web site donated to the girls for the silent auction items.....Check it out and you can still bid on items you like....

Those beans were good.  They gave me 2 cups to take home with me.  If I had know there were that many beans I would have asked for more, but I didn't want to be greedy!  Although Donny would probably not appreciate that!

There are two stallions that did not make the web site.
This Knights A'flyin  a grey with black mane tail and legs stud out of Strawflyin Buds and Strawfly Special
So far has thrown a bay, grey, brown and grey.....
Packin' for Bear a sorel paint stud own grandson of Packin Sixes
No babies on the ground yet...

If you have a mare it just takes a bid to get beautiful babies out of these studs

The two that I have stated belong to myself, Mike & Jaci.  We have babies on the ground by our grey stud, but not the paint.  As he is just now 3 yrs old.  But Jaci is going to bred her paint mare to him this year I believe.  If you have any questions about these two studs feel free to pm me, email, or call.

I have talked to the people who donated the breedings to the paint stallions and the palomino stallion...........The breedings may be used in either 08' or  09' !! Now that is very generous of these stallion owners!!!

Appt is today at 2pm!  Jas is very nervous, she was actually sick to her stomach this morning.  She is so afraid of them hurting her today, it is pretty sore.  She cried when I made the appt. she thought she  would need to have the surgery done again.  I explained to her that they just have to check it so that it can get better and she can get back to all the fun things she was doing before the accident.  I will call Kayla as soon as we leave the doctor so that she can update.  Please keep her in your prayers, she has been through A LOT  and still a long road to complete recovery.  We do thank God every for watching over our family.

Love you Jasmine and I just know you will be fine.  You are such a brave girl but I would trade places with you if I could.  Hope Mickey does not have to shave any more of his hair.  It keeps coming in gray and you know thats tuff for him!!!!!
Talk to you later today <(' ')>

:look: Whew!!!  That is good news, well an infection is not  good but at least it does not have anything to do with the "bleed"!  Give Jazz a big hug for me tell her to keep the hair off her stitches, I do not want to have to get another frame for her and Mike a new haircut picture!  Love Ya'll!!  <(' ')>

Thanks Joleta, she loves that frame!  It is right next to her bed!  Last night when she finished praying she just started laughing so I asked her what was so funny and she said, "Mom, look at Mikey, he looks hilarious!"  I must agree with her on that one.  The infected part of her incision looks better today.  Thanks everyone for all the prayers.  I will let you all know what the doc says on friday.  Keep your fingers crossed, she has her next C.T. scan on March 10th. (woohoo)
