Title: First Weight loss check in of 2008!!!!!!!
Post by: PunkinNMe on November 30, 2007, 07:32:17 AM
:TIGGER: :TIGGER:
TODAY IS THE FIRST FRIDAY OF THE REST OF OUR LIVES!!!
  :TIGGER: :TIGGER:

It's check in Day folks!!  Time to set our goals and get to work!!

Please post away with your goals, specifically . . .

What are you trying to achieve?
How are you planning to do it?
When do you plan to have it done by?

I'm making it interesting and sending my before pics to Gabe's Babe this morning so that she can hold them until my goal date!  If I don't plan my work and work my plan . . . If I fail to make my target . . . she'll be posting that madness right here!!  You are all welcome to do the same . . . you can send your before pics to me at [email protected], or you can send them to GB.
The deal is . . . if you make your goal, the pics are deleted and never seen again.
But miss your goal, and the pics are posted here for all to see!

Keep in mind that goals are personal.  Some of us will be aiming to lose inches, some of us pounds, others of us will just be trying to firm up, while others of us will just be setting a goal of increasing our activity and riding levels.  Be realistic and HEALTHY about your goals.  A brilliant mind on this board pointed out to me, this is not a diet or a race to see how fast you can lose how much.  This is about a sustainable lifestyle change that should keep us from getting back to this place again!

I will be posting daily on this thread with my activity for the previous day and what I've eaten.  You don't have to do it, but for me I need that accountability and it will help me to make good choices.  I'll also do my best to encourage those of you who express a need for it, and I am sure everyone else will also.  The beauty of what we are doing is that we are not doing it alone.  There is no greater motivator than the desire to impress a friend . . . I'll be leaning on that heavily everytime I cry about that treadmill!

SO LET'S DO THIS!!

I should add here, Ve, that drinking ICE cold water all day, will do two things: 1. help you burn calories b/c your body must warm it to its temperature to utilize it and 2. keeps you full.

Thanks Jenn!  ICE cold water it is . . .

I also wanted to add that Weight Watchers is a very good option for those of us working to change our eating habits.  It's pretty easy and helps you to learn how to eat.  The points system has a way of helping you make good choices!!  I know that some of us are on a budget, and if you will PM me I can offer you some alternatives to WW that work in a similar fashion.

I know what you're thinking . . . how is this TUBBO gonna tell us what works?  My problem is not that I don't know what I should be doing, but that I don't do it.  Besides . . . what have you got to lose except inches?

What are you trying to achieve?

I would like to lose 25 pounds.  I would like to lose at least 1 pound a week.

How are you planning to do it?

I am cutting back on fatty foods and changing my snacking habits.  I went grocery shopping last night and bought low-fat dairy items, fruit and salad stuff.  I am also a member of a dieting website that helps you design your meals and layout your exercise regimen.  I am going to try to eat only 1400 calories a day and start exercising more.  I did ride last night for an hour and 15 minutes.  I plan on trying to ride at least 4 times a week.

I started my diet last week and have already lost 2 pounds.  My goal for this week is to keep those 2 pounds off and lose 1 more!

When do you plan to have it done by?

June 3 when we get out for summer from school!

WOOO HOOO Donk!!
Sounds like you've got a good plan and a good start for that matter!

Will you be participating in the "Additional Incentive to Succeed" plan?
I'm telling you, there is nothing to keep you on the treadmill another 10 minutes like the fear of someone publishing your fatty pics.

OK... Here goes....

What are you trying to achieve?

I would like to lose 50 pounds.  I would be happy with 1 pound a week, but would really like 1.5 pounds a week.  Oh, also... I am just learning to ride (I know I'm old...but, I figure better late than never) so I really want to improve my horsemanship skills over the next year.

How are you planning to do it?

I know I need to change my eating habits (Concession stand "Nachos" are not heart healthy foods).  I am researching healthy recipes on the internet and I am going to incorporate them into my family meal plan.  I am also going to work on portion control (My husband needs to work on that also).  Other than that, I just need to get up off my "Fanniegrande" and get moving.  Once my goals are met... I will be changing my user name because I will no longer be a fanniegrande!

At this point I don't have a "deadline"  I'm just going to work on one day at a time!

I'd also like to say "GOOD LUCK" to every one... I hope we are all able to make the healthy changes in our life styles

Good Luck guys.....it is hard to stick to!!!  Me & Mom have been dieting too. I have lost 15 pounds since Nov. 2nd.....I have not had a Dr. Pepper since Nov. 1st...that is HUGE for me!!!  I have been drinking soda diet or regular forever!!!!!!  Been drinking lots of water/coffee/tea.  The water with crystal light in it is good.  I still can't believe it has been that long without a Dr. Pepper...my friends know what a big deal that is...right!?!?!?!

I think Mom has lost about the same amount too....I try to walk at least 3-4 times per week too.  Yall keep it up & we will keep each other motivated!!!

Ladies-

the low-fat stuff has more sugar than regular. the adkins diet recommends eating real salad dressing, real sour cream, .etc. because they are lower in sugar which is a carbohydrate (another enemy).

Thanks for the GREAT advice Jenn!!  I thought I read something about that once . . .
I never eat the low-fat stuff cause it wreaks havoc on my tummy . . .  <(::)>

Well yesterday was a good day . . . sorta

Breakfast - banana with frosted flakes dry
snack - grapefruit
lunch - 1/2 turkey sandwich on croissant, 3 baked chips  :nahnah: , and one half of a small choc chip cookie
snack - orange
dinner - small portion (literally 8 forks) of spaghetti, 3 bites of a honey bunn.

I don't know why but for some reason I had a REAL hankering for sugar yesterday.  It's subsided today thank God, cause I was a lil worried about it.

I went to the gym again . . . my cousin and I plan for Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri at the gym.  I'll ride Sun, Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat.
anywho - at the gym
30 min./2.05 miles on the eliptical trainer.
2 rounds of circuit training
3 sets of 5 reps on this crazy ab machine that hurt like haides.

I also posted 15 mins of long trotting and lope 10 circles each way on the old man.  Not sure how many minutes the loping took.

I need some advice on this running thing . . .

I want to be able to run a full mile by 02/15.  As it stands right now, I can't run from here to the truck.
Will my work on the elliptical trainer help me get to that goal or do I need to do something different.

My logical mind reasons that . . . If I want to run a mile, I need to start running.  But the truth is I'm kind of scared to even try it.
That's silly huh?  I was hoping that all the other stuff I am doing will get me fit enough to run.

So if I get on the treadmill, warm up for 5 at a brisk walk and then up the speed till I am at a jog and just go as long as I can at that speed everytime I am at the gym, will that eventually get me there?
Title: Re: Friday Gut Buster Check In - Let's Get it Started!!
Post by: PunkinNMe on December 01, 2007, 11:20:59 PM
Okay well, I am terribly concerned about this whole running thing.
I got on the treadmill today to do a bit of an evaluation . . . just to see how far I could go.
I did a walking warm up for a quarter mile and was optimistic that I'd be able to run at least another quarter . . .

I ran, no i jogged . . . perhaps even shuffled .10 miles   (:(((

This does not bode well for the future people.  I mean, I am not sure because I have never been a runner - but if you can only run a tenth of a mile, is 11 weeks long enough to work up to a full mile?

Anywho.
For breakfast I had hash brown potatoes and one owens country sausage.
For lunch I had hash brown potatoes again
no snack today at all.
for dinner baked fish with broccoli.
I did have a glass of juice today.

Of course we talked about the treadmill thing, But I did a total of 33 minutes for 1.5 miles.

I did ride today, but it was me and my nephew on a liesurely trail ride so I'm sure I burned nothing.

Not really a stellar day.

I'm no personal trainer by any stretch of the imagination so you can take this just as some friendly encouragement.  You have to start somewhere right?  If you can run .1 mile today, try for .12 miles tomorrow, the .13 miles the next day.  When you feel like stopping, set a goal for your self.  "OK, if I can run 10 more steps, then I'll quit"  or "OK, I went .15 miles yesterday, today I'm going to go .15 miles + 10 steps today".  Some days we just have more energy than others.  The time of day you work out also matters.  If your more energetic in the mornings then a morning workout might be best for you.  Just think of the time of day you feel the best and have the most energy.  That's usually the best time of day for your workout if you can fit it in.

Also on the cravings.  Well they happen.  Some of it is physical, but a lot of it is mental.  If you tell your self that your not going have ANY of a certain thing, (I.E. sugar, fried food, what ever) then that's all your going to think about.  The key is not to deprive your self, but to allow yourself a treat every now and then.  If your feeling deprived for long enough then you're going to have a psychotic moment one day and instead of having 1/2 of a honey bun you'll have 17 whole honey buns.

Sounds like you're doing all of the right things.  Keep up the good work and stay motivated!!
Title: Re: Friday Gut Buster Check In - Let's Get it Started!!
Post by: PunkinNMe on December 02, 2007, 10:26:50 AM
Thank you for that . . .
I'm trying to stay motivated long enough to make this physical activity thing a habit.

I can't remember how long it takes to form a habit, but oh my goodness if it could happen within the next day or two that'd be stellar.
Cause I need that whole "it's just something I do everyday" mentality to kick in before I get frustrated.

I've been trying not to say "I can't have" on anything.  I am limiting the amount of certain things that I have because I know it's not too good for me.

It's hard here in my mother's house though, in her mind food is love.  It's an issue with American Society as a whole I think.  We do it to our children, our pets . . . and my mother is no exception.  And it doesn't help that food makes me so happy.  Like I literally dance when I eat.  I am so not kidding.  And she knows that.  So anytime I exhibit boredom or depression . . . she's right there with a peach cobbler.
I love her for it because I know she means well, it's just hard for me to get the girth off under the circumstances.

Okay so this post serves as a bit of a  :TIGGER: :TIGGER: :TIGGER: Bump . . . and also as my update for the day.

Yesterday was okay . . . I don't know if you all remember me talking about that sado-massochistic ab machine I discovered at the gym on Friday, but three sets of 5 on that thing had me all jacked up.  Like I had to use flex-all on my stomach.  It hurt to stand, sit, roll over in bed, it hurt to do everything.  And it got progressively worse as Saturday wore on.  It felt a lil better when I got on the treadmill that evening, but tightened right back up for Sunday morning.  As Sunday moved along, the pain subsided just enough for me to go back to the gym and get on that DEVIL  <IMSOMAD> machine again.

I had
frosted flakes with 2% milk and a banana for breakfast.
a grapefruit snack
shredded lettuce, grilled fajita chicken, jalapenos and salsa for lunch with iced tea
spaghetti for dinner with a honey bun for desert.
Then at like 2 am I woke up ravenous . . . so I ate another bowl of frosted flakes.

Despite satan's best efforts to smote my fitness efforts down . . . I did go to the gym yesterday
30 minutes/2.10 miles on the eliptical trainer
3 rounds of legs circuit training
3 sets of 7 on the Devil's  <IMSOMAD> ab machine.
3 miles on the recumbant bike at a pretty low resistance level.

I also weighed myself FINALLY, and oh my God I really am a fatty.
I won't say exactly how much I weigh . . .
I'll just say that I've hit the century mark twice, and I've got a lil change to go with it.

I did not run yesterday, I will only do that on my home treadmill.  It's just too embarrasing to do it AT the gym . . . shuffling for .10 miles next to the marathon guy who runs a 5 mile warm up, is dripping sweat and grunting in that completely inappropriate fashion is just too much for me to take.

And CandyStar . . . your pic is nowhere near embarrasing.  You look adorable.
But, per the agreement . . . unless you miss your 10 lbs goal and 2 inches off your waist by 2/1/08, it will never be seen again.

OK, i am not sure exactly what I want to loose, but, i will know when i get there. I want to firm up.
Plan
To ride at least 4 times a week. I have two horses to ride, so, that should not be a problem! 15 minutes posting trot 15 minutes loping. Also, I plan to drink LOTs more water....I am so thirsty today its not even funny. I also plan to actually eat more....I have been skipping meals....need to eat more little stuff.
Time frame~ By My birthday...January 29th.....Be firmer!!!  :TIGGER: :TIGGER: :TIGGER: :TIGGER: :TIGGER:

As for trying to run a mile I might can offer a little advice with two different options.

#1-walk a minute, jog a minute for as long as you can stand it.  This allows you to build your wind and strenghthen those muscles.  Don't go for marathon jogs or sprints either.  Shuffle enough to make a jog to begin with.  When you finally get to where you can go a mile at the walk a minute/jog a minute pace.  Walk a minute and jog a minute and a half.  This will build you slowly.  Instead of trying to increase daily, instead increase weekly.  For instance.  If you can only do the walk/jog thing for 4 minutes, do that all week.  Let your body get used to that pace then increase the next week to 6 minutes.  Oh yeah, and if you are just starting out, only jog 3-4 times a week.  Your body needs time to build and repair, and going everyday doesn't allow it to catch up.

I was a jogger all through high school/college and still occasionally.  It takes time to build yourself up if you were never a jogger.

It sounds like you are really motivated too!  Good luck.

Thanks Donk, I'm gonna start trying that walk 1 jog 1 thing today when I go to the gym.

I've never been a runner of any sort.
I reasoned that the only time I will run is when it is life threatening . . . and even then I'll try to reason with my assailant.
Well at this point it is life threatening - I CAN HEAR MYSELF BREATHE - and apparently the is no reasoning with my fat a$$.

 :TIGGER: :TIGGER:

Had a banana, orange and apple yesterday morning . . .
Weight Watchers Creamy Rigatoni for lunch
another apple for a snack
and a grilled chicken salad for dinner.  No dressing just the leafy greens, chicken and grated parmesan cheese that was already on it.

I didn't get off until almost 9 PM so the gym, and the treadmill for that matter, were out of the question.
I went home and fell into an exhausted slumber, and unless snoring counts as cardio my lazy butt got NO exercise.

You are so awesome and dedicated!

I went home and did some reading about diets and have a few interesting facts!

1)   No diet should be under 1200 calories a day...below that is dangerous for your body

2)    3500 calories make up 1 pound of fat

3)   The body mass formula is:   weight in pounds divided by (height in inches times  height in inches)
                     then multiply this by 703

4)   If you are on a 1400 calorie diet you should only consume 15 grams of fat daily, 1600 calories-17 grams

5)   Danger foods include:  cream-based soups or sauces, fried fish or meat, full-fat dairy products, butter or margarine, regular salad dressing, fatty meats like sausage, fatty snacks (chips, nuts, movie theatre popcorn), fatty sweets (chocolate/caramel), baked desserts, cooking fats and oils

6)   Safe foods include:  tomato-based soups or sauces, grilled or baked fish or meat, nonfat milk or yogurt, mustard, ketchup, salsa, fat-free salad dressing, lean meats like skinless chicken, low fat snacks like pretzels, fat free sweets like licorice and hard candy, fresh fruit, cooking spray.

This info really WOKE ME UP so I wanted to share with all!

I'm really trying . . .
this morning has been kinda bad.  I've been here since 415 am and i hit a mad hunger spell at like 630 that resulted in me eating a mcdonalds steak egg and cheese bagel.  That's gonna require some serious treadmilling and elliptical training to get outta my system.

But I take it as a positive sign that eating it did not make me happy.  I didn't really enjoy it, despite the fact that it tasted pretty good and now I'm a bit miserable.  So perhaps this signifies a turning point in my relationship with food . . . or at least that food item.  Despite the fact that it tasted good, eating it didnt' make me feel to good.
Title: Where are my GET IN SHAPE Buddies ???
Post by: PunkinNMe on December 05, 2007, 07:44:58 AM
Alright so yesterday was an interesting day.
I worked from 415AM to 430PM.  I ate that steak, egg, cheese bagel from McD's at like 630AM . . . drank a diet coke over the course of the day . . . and that was it.

All day.

When I got off I had a couple things to do and just got so busy that before I knew it I had gone to bed without eating anything.  That can't be good.

I did not get to work out yesterday    , and I feel like a bum for it, but I plan on it for today.

But . . . um, I'm starting to feel like I'm alone in the quest for the elusive HIGHER LEVEL OF FITNESS
It's like I hear angels sing the Ave Maria when I say that.

Anywho . . . I'm excited this morning because some notoriously uncomfortable slacks are fitting a lil looser today!!  :TIGGER: :TIGGER:
But I'm not sure anyone else is out there to even read this.
Have I lost my fellow "Get in Shapers", or is it that I am the only person who needs this daily purge and affirmation?

OK, Here goes....

Yesterday:
Breakfast: Bowl of Total cereal with frozen blueberries and 1% milk.
Snack:  Handfull of Banana Chips
Lunch:  Peppered Turkey and Swiss Sandwich on whole wheat with dijon mustard and BBQ Chips (ooops on the chips)
Snack:  Handful of Trail mix
Dinner:  Same as Lunch... I just got this peppered turkey from HEB and Mannnnn its gooooood!

Today:
Breakfast: same as yesterday

Thats as far as I've gotten.  I'm doing ok on my eating, now I just need to get exercising.  I have a bum knee so I need to figure out what I can do without being in too much pain.  Running is out of the question.  I need to go to the Dr. but that's gonna have to wait till after the first of the year.   That's funny because we have a sick horse and she goes to the Dr. tomorrow.  See how that works...

It is as it should be in every horse lover's life . . .  <NOT WORTHY> <NOT WORTHY>

You know I don't have an ACL in my left knee and have a tear in my MCL with several medial tears in my right knee, so I know the feeling with that whole "bum knees" thing.  The elliptical trainer is pretty easy on the knees, and of course if you can do some water aerobics it takes a lot of the pressure off of your knees as well.

Wow! You guys are doing great. I on the other hand am in a bit of a slump. I have however worked my butt off at work, but that is not the area I want to lose. Yesterday I had about ten totilla chips for breakfast/ lunch and for dinner I had some pasta salad. Really healthy eating habits. I need a nutritional makeover. I find no time in my day to eat. I work at the post office and we are really busy right now, so no time to eat. I delivered mail in the dark the last two days. That sucks!!!!!! WOW!!! That is great Punkinnme about your slacks!!!  Doesn't that feel great too?!?!?  It is also great to wear old jeans that have not fit in a few years too!  Keep it up...every little step brings you closer to your goal.  I try not to struggle with every little thing that I eat....the doctor said to eat what you want....IT IS THE QUANITY OF IT YOU MUST WATCH!  That is SO MUCH easier for me...that way there is not any food that I am "forbidden" therefore think about non stop...I have what I want but in small amounts.  The only thing I keep off limits is soda...no diet or regular.  I am at a 16 lb loss as of this morning....it is never easy but it is a good feeling of accomplishment!!  You are on your way!!!  <ROCKON>

Thank you Candy, I figure if I keep tyring somethings got to give eventually.  And hopefully it will be my love handles that to the giving up.

I'm not sure where you are . . . so kickin you in the butt is kinda hard.  But, I'll keep cyber kicking you here and hopefully it will get better once the holiday season is over and your routine slows down some.  Every little thing counts, so if you can make all the drastic changes that you want immediately . . . just figure out those small things tht you can do.  Give up the soda, limit your carbs and sugar intake, leg lifts and seat crunches while you are at work.

Jeesh Gabe . . .
you didn't just fall off the wagon!
You fell, got your leg caught and had your face dragged along the gravel path . . .

But okay, PMS excuses it some.  However, I will say this - exercise is great for cramps!
And it will help your scars from the wagon dragging heal.

OK well I did manage to eat out of all four food groups today. I stopped by Dairy Queen and had a cheeseburger all the way. Convienience is not very healthy. Subway needs a drive thru. By the time I get all my chitlins out of the car to go in and eat, I am too tired to eat. Either that or I forget why I was getting them out to start with. How many calories does that burn lifting little critters out of the back seat? :look: :look: If I only had the energy this little mouse has!!!!!!!!

Mernin!!
Hope everyone is feeling GREAT this morning!  It's Thursday . . . which means tomorrow is Friday . . . and once I finish that day, well then it's Saturday!  And on Saturday I don't have to come to this god forsaken place.  God I hate my job!

Anywho . . .

Yesterday I had
breakfast - Total Raisin Bran with 2% milk
and over the course of the rest of the day here at work I ate
a banana, an orange and an apple.
When I got home I ate a small helping of spaghetti
and I was off.

I went out to the barn and rode a little bit.  It's a new horse that belongs to a friend so there wasn't really a whole lot going on there.  I did post some, but not enough to qualify as activity as far as I'm concerned.

Went to the gym when I finished that.
30 minutes on the eliptical for 2.10 miles.
circuit training legs, back and arms.  3 sets of 20 on low weight for each exercise.
Did the ab machine from hell  <IMSOMAD> ...  3 sets of 10.  OUCH!
The the treadmill, incline 10, 2.5 mph for 10 minutes.

Yesterday felt pretty good as days go.  I was tired.  But I felt like I ate well, didn't have any real cravings and got some activity in.

I blew supper last night and had 2 slices of pizza and some baked french fries.  But my dessert was 1/2 a yogurt.  So that was better.  Then I found a jump rope and discovered how out of shape I really am.  I also rode yesterday.

This morning I started with 1/2 a bagel and creamcreese with orange juice.
No snack
Lunch:  1 Slice of pizza  :!

I tried jumping rope a couple months back . . .   :TIGGER: :TIGGER:  :TIGGER: :TIGGER: :TIGGER:

That is how I got the MCL and medial tears in my right knee.

I won't be jumping anymore rope, but yes it is a GREAT aerobic as well as muscle building workout.
Kinda hard on the knees though, even the healthy ones.

It's funny because all of those things we used to do as kids and think of them as games . . . ARE GREAT WORKOUTS!!

Remember the HULA HOOP!!
Try a lil bit of that now . . . it will work on those abs like nothing else.

/|\\  /|\\  /|\\  /|\\  I'm not much for hand-eye either but I have got to find something I can do in the house.  It gets dark so early, I barely get my horse rode and the baby worked.  So after I get everything fed it's way too dark to go jogging outside so jumping rope will have to work.

Lots of walking and jogging or running. I am scared to get on the scale. I don't feel like I have lost anything anywhere. But, I did buy a bra the other day. Aw Come on Woody's Mama!! It just takes that first step to get you back in the groove.
:TIGGER: :()& :look: I'm rootin for ya!  And I know you can do it . . .  :TIGGER: :()& :look:

I think you just need PEEPS!!   <ROCKON>
No, not marshmallow peeps (too much sugar and they are only available around Easter).
Peeps  <ROCKON> are those people who act as your support system.

When I lose my umph about working out, and all I want is cheese covered fat - I go to my peeps.
My peeps are:
the people on this board who keep me encouraged . . . sometimes they just say what I need to hear.
My cousin (and workout partner) reminds me of those cute little outfits we plan to wear to our little cousin's first game next season.
My cousin the football player loves to remind me of how good it is for me, and to be honest I just like to hear him say he's proud of me.
And then I have this friend who reminds me of the amount of money I've sunk into saddles and feed and the vet and shoes, and how much I'm sinking into training for my Papa . . . and then she reminds me that there's never been a FAT A$$ World Champion!

Once they are all done, and usually I'm good after just one of them, I'm pumped up to get er done!!

So that's what you need!
Peeps  <ROCKON> !
So, tell my why you're doing this, WHY do you wanna get in better shape, what are your ultimate goals?  I'll make sure that you don't forget it whenever you need a boost!!

Title: Re: FRIDAY Weight Loss Check in! If you did ONE thing this week, that's a start!
Post by: PunkinNMe on December 07, 2007, 11:50:43 AM
I haven't rewarded myself yet . . . still got a ways to go.
But I'm looking forward to a lot of things that will only be better if I reach my weight loss goals so . . . I'll get there.  It's important to do that!!  Without reward, it's just saddo-massochistic self abuse.

I had a pretty good week . . .
yesterday I had raisin bran and 2% milk for breakfast.
Over the course of the day I snacked on a banana, apple, orange and grapefruit.
For lunch I had sliced chicken on whole wheat with a slice of cheese.
For dinner I had chicken breast.
Only water to drink the entire day.

At the gym with Lori (see other post),
I was on the elliptical for 30 minutes/2.10 miles
circuit training legs, arms and chest 4 sets of 20 on each exercise with low weight.
4 sets of 10 on the Devil's  <IMSOMAD> Ab Machine,
as well as 10 front/10back/10 left oblique/10 right oblique reps on this thing called the "around the world".

And if any of you tell ANYONE that I said what I am about to say . . . I'll deny it.
But . . .
It felt kind of good.

I will never admit to having said that!

Despite the fact that it's right up there  /|\\ for all to see.

But yes, somewhere in the course of yesterday's workout.
between the butterfly press and the Devil's  <IMSOMAD> ab machine, I got a little bit euphoric and realized that I actually felt physically good.

In my defense . . . I still don't work out just because it "feels so good".  I am working out because I'm uncomfortable in my own skin, I need to be able to ride this helluva horse I get back and I've got too much invested to cop out now . . .
But while I was working out, it did occur to me that it does feel kind of good.

 <(::)> That's sick isn't it?

How is the jogging coming?

I am jump roping and riding my horse for exercise.  Glenn is threatening to bring our other horse home.  That would give us 5.  I am only having to ride mine and work the baby in the round pen and he takes care of the other two.  But, this other horse would be my project to start on barrels.  Good thing about that is #1 she is low to the ground so the fall won't be far #2 she will have an awesome handle on her when she gets back (sidepassing the whole shitterie)

um yesterday's food . . . don't really remember.
Let's see
I think frosted flakes for breakfast.
not sure what I had for lunch, maybe spaghetti
dinner was cabbage with a baked pork chop and a honey bunn for desert.
i also had a glass of sweet tea that was entirely tooooooo sweet so I'm sure I did myself in on the sugar.

I rode yesterday for a bit, but did not make the gym.

I.

Feel.

Like.

A.

Bum.

But I will go today after class.

OK, I'm down 7 lbs from when this all started.... :TIGGER:  I'm pretty sure it's all fluid though since I can accually see my ankle bone and my rings are easy to take off.  I don't care what it is... the scales are down and that makes me happy. :look:

Wow you girls have really been busy and the results are really showing.

Let's see Saturday:
1/2 egg & cheese bagel
Turkey & Cheese Sandwich on wheat
Carrots with ranch dressing
Crawfish/Shrimp Etoufee

Sunday:
4 small biscuits with syrup
Chili Cheese Hotdog -yep I gave in
Fajitas with cucumber salad on the side

Monday: so far...
oatmeal with 2 biscuits
leftover Crawfish/Shrimp Etoufee

I did not exercise over the weekend but hope to make-up for it this afternoon.  I divorced my horse Saturday morning so Glenn has a new project and he is going to pick up his little mare from the trainer's this week for me to start on barrels.  That way I still have more than 1 horse to ride this week!

Does anyone out there want to share recipes????  I know it can be hard learning to eat right!  Here are a couple that we tried this weekend.

Friday night...
Parmesan crusted Chicken
I used 5 boneless skinless chicken breasts (I pounded them out so they would be a little thinner)
Brush Dijon mustard all over the chicken breast
sprinkle them with Italian seasoning and put them on a baking dish
Press grated Parmesan cheese on them and bake til they are slightly browned
I served them with greenbeans and salad.

On Sunday....
I diced up the left over Parmesan chicken set to the side
In a large skillet, I heated a little olive oil and sauted 1 red onion (diced) and a teaspoon of chopped garlic
When the onion was tender I added 1 large package of fresh spinach
When the spinach cooked down, I added 1/2 can rotel and the diced up left over Parmesan chicken (the Parmesan cheese melted off the chicken and mixed with the other juice to make a nice sauce)
I served it over whole wheat spaghetti with a salad.

Wow that sounds really good!  I don't do gourmet cooking I just fix whatever is easiest.  Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I divorced my horse.  We had a serious personality conflict come to a head over the weekend so Glenn is in charge now and Harley is going to the roping pen as soon as it dries up.  After that he's supposed to spend a month with the "south texas tractor God".  We'll see how he shapes up after that.

Gourmet Cooking.... Pleazzzzze  rofl.  There is nothing gourmet about what I cook, I'm just trying to health it up.  I need to loose the weight and my husband has really high triglyserides (sp).  Why just a couple of months ago, a normal dinner for us was corndogs and curly fries >SHOCKED<.  It is really hard to cook healthy, but I figure if I want to be around long enough to get lower than a 30 second barrel run (for all you speed deamons out there, I'm just learning) then I better start at least trying to cook healthy :)/\\

You don't suck Candy . . . it's just a lil bit of a set back.
You just have to figure out what happened and work on that piece.  Heck at least it was only ONE pound.

yesterday was not a good day for me.
had honey nut cheerios for breakfast with 2% milk.
had a turkey sandwich on wheat, with spicy mustard, jalapenos, lettuce and pickles for lunch. Also had a fresh fruit cup with pineapple, strawberry canteloupe and grapes.
for dinner I had . . . um, hang on I'll remember
OOOOOOH, Jambalaya with spicy sausage. Lotta carbs  <(::)>
then later I had to have another honey bun . . . not sure what it going on there but I need to nip that in the bud.

went to the gym and did 45 minutes for 3.15 miles on the elliptical machine.
did some circuit training 3 sets of 15 on each machine.
And did 5 sets of 10 on the Devil's  <IMSOMAD> Ab Machine.

I'm not sure why, I mean I didn't really do bad . . .
At the end of the day I just didn't feel like I did well though.
So today is another day and I'm gonna get back on track!!

Sounds like you did just fine Punkin  :()&......do not beat yourself up over a danged old honey bun & carb dinner!!!!!  Just keep the portions down & I bet you still do great!!!!  I do have an idea though...do not  <KICK YO BUTT> for asking this, but why not quit buying the honey buns & get something that's a little less fattening/calories for those pesky sweet attacks?!?!?  I get em too so I know that something has to get you passed the sweet attack!!!!  :cheeze:

If I can drop Dr Pepper for lets see.... 45 days thenI know you can drop the honey bun demon!!!!  I mean I was such a regular at Sonic to pick up my large vanilla Dr. Pepper every day....they barely even asked for my order..they knew what I wanted & it is still SO HARD to go to Sonic and NOT get a soda of any kind.....tea or water only please.....YIKES!  >SHOCKED<  I still have my coffe with cream every morning though....will not give that up.

You keep it up....you are on the way to your goal already....and Donk, you are being such a good girl too....carrots at the barrel race Sat and all.....good role model !!!

Thanks Shelly . . . you have NO IDEA how much the encouraging words are appreciated.
I haven't had a honey bun hankering again, but I did break down and eat three of those duplex cookies.  Kinda like an oreo but vanilla on one side . . .
I wish I could banish them from the house, but alas I live with my parents and daddy loves honey buns, duplex cookies, oatmeal pies and raisin cakes . . . I'll just have to suck it up.  Or not, depending on how you look at it.

I didn't check in yesterday and Tuesday is a bit of a blur outside of the cookies.  And to add insult to sugar calories, I didn't work out Tuesday either.  BUM!!

Yesterday was okay.  Had total raisin bran for breakfast, banana snack, 2 baked chicken wings and green beans for lunch, raisins and a bag of pretzels for a snack, a sprite zero  :nahnah: , and for dinner . . . Mamma sabbotaged me with chicken fried steak and stewed potatoes.  (:(((
I rode the horse for a lil bit, but couldn't do much since I had to ride IN the barn aisle.  Just a bunch of flexing, bending, backing and lateral movement.  And I did go to the gym.
45 minutes/4.18 miles on the elliptical trainer.  Pretty good circuit workout, a HECK of an ab workout and another 10 minutes on the treadmill at 2.5 MPH.

Not a stellar day, but at least I took my chunky butt to the gym.

I'm inclined to say it's this freakin holiday season.
You either eat cause people keep shoving it in your face, or you eat cause you morbidly depressed about this entire thing . . .
either way your weight loss efforts are damned at this time of year!

Unless of course you've been working out.  Muscle weighs more than fat so you would gain weight as your muscle tone improves.

I think that is it Woody's Mama . . . you've just been working out so hard and getting so firm and taut that the muscles boosted you up by 2 lbs.

4 pounds so far!  I havent' started working out really yet.  I am concentrating on what I eat.  This way, when I do hit a plateau I will have another avenue to help.

This is my first Check in for 2008!!
And it's not on a Friday, but I finally made it back to the gym so I weighed myself.

I too fell off the wagon this holiday season.
Heck my Vodka consumption alone was enough to pickle a liver!
I ate sweets and there was chocolate cake . . . I LOOOOOOOOOVE chocolate cake!!

There was maybe 5 workouts between Christmas and last night . . . and two of those workouts were this year.

At any rate

I still can not run!  I just can't and I'm a little terrified of what that means for me here in a minute.
But I have lost a total of 8.25 lbs so far.
So i am satisfied with that.

What about y'all . . . how's everyone doing and what are we going to do to get back on track?

Where'd that darn wagon go...  I missed it back in November when Punkin started this covo!  I'm going to try to catch it too.  My goals are small and I'm considering WW.  I just want to feel good and have the energy to be the best mom and wife possible.  I'll get back to you guys on the goals and details of my "masta plan."

Thanks for starting up this conversation!  It's helpful and fun to share the weight loss coaster.  I've been on it my entire life, you'd think by now I'd figure out how to enjoy the ride!

Okay so I don't honestly remember the last time I checked in so . . . what the hay!
I've gained .25 pounds since my last report.  No real reason for the gain, but plenty of reason for the lack of loss . . .
I just haven't been putting in the effort at the gym like I was, and while my eating habits are not as bad as they once were they haven't been as good as they had gotten.  So I'm back at it again!  Putting in the work and putting down the fork.

Yesterday I didn't have breakfast.
I had a grilled chicken burrito for lunch, that I shouldn't have had . . . and it came back to get me.  Cause I was sick to my stomach and had a mad amount of heart burn!
For dinner, beef stew.

Worked out.
60 minutes on the elliptical trainer and my total body weight work out.

I fell off the wagon and am almost having to start over from the start  :!  But I have started again for this year as of yesterday.  The freedom of food during the holidays with leftovers and all is sinful!  HAHA

City...Glenn had a gazelle and he loved it.  I tried to use it and the foot pedals were kinda wide apart that it made my hips hurt if I used it for a long while.  It is absolutely one of those items you can put in front of the TV and stay of for quite a while.  His mom has the gazelle know and she has not problems from it...so it may have been just me.  I have seen them at Academy.

Soooo, I'm now "on" the wagon, kinda just hangin onto the bumper, but I'm on.  I've been eating more protein (boiled eggs for breakfast w/ 1 slice of wheat toast and tuna w/ salad for lunch.)  I've also been having a small sweet potato or edamame (sp?) for a snack.  No exercise yet, other than getting back on my horses consistently.

I really would like to lose at least 10 lbs before March.  We're going snow skiing over spring break and I'd really rather NOT getting my fat a... hauled off the mountain by the ski patrol this year!!!  (Although, those snowmobiles the ski patrol ride are SUPER fun!)  Evidently, the more overweight you are, the higher the likiehood of getting altitude sickness - which SUCKS!  I love to ski and HATE getting left in the snow by Jim Bob and Stacey!!  IT'S ON!!!

It's taco night at our house, but I plan to avoid all sour cream and other naughty parts of the meal.  C'mon girls - I need your help!

SMillis - You DO look fabulous by the way!  Great job!

Thanks so much girls, I really appreciate it!!!!
You know to me it seems the older we get your not quite as vain as when we are young...it is more about feeling good and being healthy.  This is true for me anyway.  It has always been a struggle for me to maintain/lose my weight.....even in Junior High I started the roller coaster ride with it.  I work with this day by day and set small goals for myself on a daily basis so that I will not set myself up to be disappointed or set unrealistic goals. Over the holidays I just wanted to maintain & not gain....unfortunately the flu/bronchitis/lung funk played a part in keeping me from over indulging in the great food we had around!!!!  Heck I could not breath and eat...so i chose to breath...could not taste much anyway!  And when I thought I might could eat I would taste a little bit of everything and then go start cleaning up to distract me from eating anymore.

Gena...you are a strong willed person...you can do it girl!!!!!  We will keep you going too....you will be swooping right  passed those guys on the slopes this time!!!!  :)/\\  Shelley ...5 lbs is nothing compared to how much you have lost over the last few months befroe the holidays...you will lose it fast!  Deb...you have been looking great ever since you started working out...keep it up!

Punkin....you are on your way....don't stop now..you are drivin the wagon!!!!!

I was just not 100% sure of his handle b/c we have always done lead line with him.

Too funny...he really rode good for me...I was shocked, he had a sliding stop man...like a mini reiner!!!  :)/\\  As long as he does not get a bluff in on a kid he is one slick ride man, he likes to try them just a little bit & once he sees that they don't buy it he gives up and goes on about being a good boy!  Justin & Bailey worked him over good today too....Lindsey better get ready!  <:)

Hey Shelley - That's hysterical about Red!  He's definitely a keeper.  So cute and so sweet!  Linds will be making the pattern on her own in no time with Red's help!  Leadline is fun, but I'm with you, I'm looking forward to the day when they do it on their own.

OK, so I have another "funny/but not too funny".  I've been eating well all week. I've been drinking a glass of water before every meal, soda etc.  I've also been eating more protein and lean foods.  Guess what?

I GAINED 3 LBS!   Now THAT takes talent!  OK, I'm pissed off now, it's ON Mr. Fat Monster!  Backoff sucka - here I come. :star wars:  (That's me and Mr. Fat Monster)

Okay . . .
went to the gym last night.
Not a stellar workout, but it was a workout and every little bit counts!

I've lost a total of 11 lbs now.
So only 5.5 more to go before goal and I still have a full month to get there!
I'm very excited about that!

Um, still not a very good runner and think I may have overshot my sanity when I said I wanted to run a mile . . . but I'll keep trying and who knows . . . God may answer that prayer too!

So how is everyone esle doing!

I see that Donk is still going strong, and appears to be in good spirits about everything.  GOOD JOB!!

Gena, keep at it . . . you'll lose it!  But i can see how the whole gaining 3 after doing so well with your diet would be frustrating.  But again . . . I love that you are still at it!!

Woody's Mama, please let me know how that ab lounger works out for you!  I don't know that I'll buy one really soon, but for future reference I'd love to know how effective they are.  I have a treadmill at home that has been there for a year now and I've used it recently but prior to the changes I decided to make here I think I had used the thing 5 times in 9 months.  It's harder for me to get motivated at home.  It's been getting easier now that I actually look forward to working out, but until I'm hard core I don't want to invest money in a lot of at home stuff.
