One of our brand new barrel racers to Tx #34, Annie needs our prayers now....she just started riding about a year ago and joined NBHA & ran at the HLS&R this year....she has done great! Annie was diagnosed with skin cancer and is at MD anderson in Houston tonight undergoing more testing to figure out what all is going on.....Annie is in her early twenties, full of life, energetic, and a VERY nice person!!! Please say a little prayer for her & we can show her how great the "barrel racing family" can be! I am sure Kayla will keep us updated on what is going on with Annie. (((((((HUGS))))))))

What's up with the young ones getting skin cancer at such an early age??? My oldest daughter, Dusti, had skin cancer last year (December). She's only 25. It grew to a very large mole just inside her hairline in just a few short months. They had to do surgery....very scary!! ANNIE - PRAYERS FOR YOU!!! (((((((HUGS))))))))

Many prayers going up for Annie!! (+) (+)
well as u know i retired from M.D. Anderson after 30 years..there is poisen everywhere we look and turn around..SUN, microwave ovens(yes-read up on it), water, well chemicals in the water, pasadena plants, chemicals to kill insects, cigarrettes, and the list goes on and on and on..i lived in pasadena for 20 years and think about all the friggin plants around there, the crap that is absorbed into the ground and eventually drifts down into the water tables, and where does water come from?? ugh---dont get me started

oh and one more thing, the wonderful fruits and veggies we eat that are so great for us that we buy from the stores, think of all the lovely pesticides they are covered in before they hit our baskets!! :!

More and more people are getting this type of cancer. Prayers for Annie.
Debhorses, we are trying to become self-sustainable because of all the reasons you said. I know it's a little late in life but we are doing one small thing at a time. Growing chemical-free hay on our new ranch (Using compost). Grass-fed cattle. Raising our own chickens in the pasture for good eggs. Growing our own veggie garden, and fruit and nut trees and water from our well. We still need a good Jersey cow.
Still use a micro-wave but hey, it's a start! (Sorry didn't mean to hi-jack a prayer thread).

Annie and I talked about her skin cancer at our last barrel race because cancer is real prevalent in my family I wanted to know what prompted her to get this checked out by her doctor. She said she has several moles (which I do to) and one came up with a white ring around it. She did say that her doctor said to look for any changes in the moles you have. I am sure Annie would want everyone to be aware of this since she is such a good hearted person. Good luck Annie and more prayers headed your way!!!!! <(' ')>
-
Any more news on Ms. Annie ?? Did her moles turn out okay or what ?? She's still in my prayers!!

My heart goes out to Annie, but it's true, she couldn't be in better hands. It's been over a year since my surgery and as scary as it was and still is, those people at M.D. Anderson are wonderful. They've educated me so much about Melanoma Cancer. The main thing is no one is exempt from this growing problem. We should all protect ourselves from the suns rays, which unfortunately for all of us county girls that love the outdoors, is our worse enemy.
Good luck Annie and keep us informed about your progress, we do care. Keep the faith kiddo, and we'll keep you in our prayers also.

Still no pathology (?) report yet. I think the waiting and not knowing is getting to her as much as anything. (she's a worry wort anyway!) but we rode last night and no body got dirty! Hopefully she can get some answers soon.
-
Annie heard from one of the doctors yesterday. They say the cancer is growing laterally so she is going to have to do more tests to see if it is in the lymfnodes(sp). They are trying to set up a appointment for monday. She is really scared now. Please keep her in your prayers.
-
Kalya is Annie a patient at M.D.Anderson yet or somewhere else? I have special connections up there is she needs any help getting in. Just left me know.

(((((((HUGS))))))))Got Annie on the phone she is scheduled for surgery Friday morning at M D Anderson in Houston. <HI> They are removing about an inch around the area that they are sure is cancer and a couple of lymph nodes that they suspect.  Needless to say she is scared to death seeing all the kids up there undergoing treatments. Please say a quick prayer for her total and complete recovery from this. She asked the doctor how long until she could ride she is making a true cowgirl!!!!!!!!!

Please keep us informed as we all gather the strongest prayers we can gather.
