Dude, I am totally Excited about the Cajun Classic! I better get my hat shaped and my shirts starched!!!! Did I see something about having a Pole Class too??? That would be cool! heads up there is a practice tonight in deridder at the same pen. its every other thurs night. And yes there is tons of motels in that area.. Even a tractor supply several feed stores. two good vets in that area. I only live 45 minutes from there, hubby works right down the road at the mill. if you need anything just let me know.. I will be there tonight as well. good luck to everyone and hope to see yall there. esp stuffin your face with pizza. <ROCKON>

Im Here! I just got home from New Caney. Gabe had a decent pole run, but hit one and got a no time. He placed 5th in the 3D Novice class....2 outta the money and I am not sure how I messed up our open run yet cause I need to watch the video....IT WAS BAD!!!! :! :! :! :! :! :! We have some issues to work on before the classic!!! :-\\\\\\\\

Well, My plans changed quickly! I won't be setting my massage table up this year. Familoonies are going to visit the bro, SIL and their baby Damien down in the valley. I am staying home to medicate Lestat and the diabetic cat. Lestat had formal pics taken today for posterity. Only took me 4 hours to bathe the filth off of him. LOL When I get the CD... I'll share with you all how handsome he is!
Have fun you racers and don't do anything too strenuous since I won't be there to rub you back together. ;)

I know I will start getting my trailer ready this weekend so I hopefully don't forget anything! Which you know we normally do no matter how much we plan. From my understanding there are a few of us coming from the Houston Area that run in the GCBRA. Can't wait to head that direction!! :look:

It will be posted on ebarrelracing.com and on cajunclassicbarrels.com. It should be posted by next Sunday night. The deadline was the 15th, so they are still receiving entries in the mail. I will probably get the info. Sunday, then I will have it posted asap.

I am ready to go too! Not just cause I want a weekend away, in fact, i am glad that my hubby just came home, but, I get to sleep in my trailer for the first time....I have never had a trailer I could sleep in!!! Yup, it might be cold, but, I will get an electric blanket and snuggle up!!! YAY!! its nto too far from home, but, diesel is so high now that it would cost too much to drive back and forth!!!!

Plus we have the young horses that are getting broke and started on roping, barrels, or reining! So we have all kinds of fun 7 days a week. But if I did not have horses I would be bored as day!!! >>>HORSIE

Same here! I went a whole 6 months with out horses...OMG I thought I was going to die of depression!!! I get to spend time with Gabe and my dog...I am not sure if I am bringing Colt 45 or Ruger...Depends on if Jeff has to work that weekend...Shoot, I would bring both, but, then the Lab would get lonely... <..>

I'm from Louisiana and have only been barrel racing for 2 years, but one of the things I love most about it is all the great people I meet. I will be attend the Cajun Classic Sat. & Sun. Yeah, well, i am better at packing myself than anyone!!! If he helps, I will forget something. Good thing is that if I get tired of being there, I can always drop the trailer and come home cause its only an hour away. I just think it will save on fuel if I stay down there the whole time. And, i want to hang out with all of you guys!!!! Only having one horse to run and being up early (top of the draw) I might just go home Saturday night and come back Sunday....I dunno, i think i will like being there!!! Even if my trailer aint a living quarters trailer!!!

You sound like me. If my SO tries to help me (usually in a rushing manner) I will inevitably forget something.
I would think that it would be more economical to stay in DeRidder if you are dragging a very big trailer.
It would be neat to meet people. . . but I kind of stick to myself so it may be hard for me to meet folks. I may just admire all of you folks from a distance. LOL

YES. I am coming in sometime Friday evening sometime. I have to work. I am trying to sneak out though so I can leave. I will have everything ready and I will just need to get my son from school and wrap my pony. I don't know at this time if hubby is coming or not. Oh, GB; that would be better if there were over 300 running! That would give folks like gbacres and myself some breathing room. (Glad I'm not the only one in which the horse is shared.) A friend of mine asked what I was going to do with Jose between runs because there may not be time to warm him back up. I told her that I'd just keep him warm by hand walking/lunging to cool him down but to keep him warm as well so a great deal of warm up time would not be necessary for Moriah.

burnintheturns--I late entered last year and on Friday I ran 2:00 a.m. That's the reason I pre entered. I think we will be fine and if it's that close together I plan on doing the same. My son just started back riding and has only made one run on my pony, so.......I guess I'm not worried about anything but him holding her in the alleyway. What I might do is walk her in and then let him step on her and go. This is the first time we will make this many runs so I don't know what she is going to act like. All we can do is try. If it gets too bad, I will scratch him Sunday in the youth.

I don't remember how many entries. It was a bunch. I don't know how many they will run an hour. I hope they have more than 1 tractor. I was calculating 50 an hour, but.........If they don't that gives us more time.

Lol Mama doesn't argue with him anymore. I just let him throw his fit and then go back to whatever I was doing. He is JUST like a little kid. Haha I remember when I first started running Jet at Marshall, I guess he thought that LONG alley was a track. He'd come out and fly up the alley then out towards the warm up pen, curve around towards the tree and be in the grass field before I could get him stopped. Now he's learned..the faster I stop the faster SHE gets off.

That's how I learned to drive a standard. My dad bought me one, hooked it to the trailer, sent me to college and told me to call the police if I had a wreck. I've not stopped since. :TIGGER:

I am not sure I will be able to be there by draw #23 cause I am riding with someone else and she doesn't intend on leaving till 9 a.m. from here and it is about a two hour drive. (We are #212, #218, and #2 youth.)

That sounds like how my dad taught me to drive things. I was 12 when I started driving the truck around the farm. What is the best way to go to the Classic? Norma told me to take I-10 to 27 North, that takes me into Deridder and then take Hwy 190 West then Arena would be 6 miles on the left. Well, i will try to make this long story short...My ex boyfriend...Like 9 years ago...would throw money at me every time I asked....I got really bad about being too Dependant on him. We broke up and 6 months later, I met Jeff. One of the reasons he liked me was because I was making life work on my own. I could stand on my own two feet. However, I did ask every once in a while after I had gone a couple months with out paying rent...ya know..when you get really in a bind....But, I make good money, i just have a lot of Debt from student loans, truck not (its only $320) and insurance etc. When I moved up here to be with him, I left a decent job and all my friends to come up to a place with no job, but a whole lot of new friends! Jeff Basically supported me for 4 months until I got this Job. I hated it. I hated that he had to pay for my stuff.
Yes, now we are married, but, he keeps the power on, the roof over our heads and well.....anyhow, my job is to pay my loans, my insurance, my credit cards and for the horses when I can. Well, he paid $400 for the Horse Dentist last week. I paid for the BR, but, now he is gonna have to give me like $500 so I dont go "broke and over draft" That to me stinks!!! And my credit card is MAXED....I hate that too cause I cant even get xmas presents now! <IMSOMAD> Dont worry, My secret Santa person will get her gift :cheeze: But, it might be at the Conroe BR!!! OMG, I am so stressed!!!

Boy do I hear ya on the money part.. After paying for this dang saddle..that might not even be here this friggin weekend cause they're JUST now shipping it TODAY..it was SUPPOSE to be ready the 27th. I have been waiting on it since the end of September. I might only get what my secret santa gives me <psssttt> Ohh well..I got to run at the WBR finals, Destry's free for all, the cajun classic among many other big shows this year.. so lol I'll count those as presents..exspensive ones.
Good thing my dad hides money..cause my mom spends it like its going out of style.

I am gonna ride tonight for sure. All this worrying about money has me so upset I am crying... I need my Gabe Babe...Jeff is still trying to get his stuff out of the Apartment, so, I wont even get to snuggle with him tonight....last night I was way asleep when he got home. Shelley, I take I 10 to Vidor and I take 12 and 12 runs you into Dequincy and you take a left at DEQ on 27 and that takes you into DeRidder and you get 190 to arena. It's 2 lanes but no traffic. There is the little detour for 12 at Vidor but I haven't been that way in a while so it might be okay. It's not too bad. That's how I go. If not that way, the way she told you.
