when you came to Buna, I didn't realize you are the one with twins. Whew!! What a handful!!!! I'm glad to see you out riding...must be tough to take care of twins and also ride. I can't imagine!! I was soooo tired with just one at at time!!! (woohoo)

yes i am the one with twins and yes it is very hard for me to ride my horses. now that my hubby is working in Beaumont at the Exxon Plant and staying at his sisters house in Sulphur, La i stay at home with the twins to take care of our animals and of course the twins. it is very hard when you don't have any help around :\\((( i am not going to lie it is hard at times, nerves kinda get rattled some.

I did the same thing. I rode most of my life and then when the kids were born I pretty much stopped riding and did everything for them and their activities. This year my oldest son went to college and my daughter that is heavily into horses and a senior this year will be leaving the nest soon. She has used my horses to compete in everything and so I didn't have a horse to ride. Now she is using my husbands horse since he quit riding and now I am getting to ride my mare again. I am seriously thinking of starting to barrel racing but just have to get my confidence back. I realized in the last couple of days that when she leaves the nest next year, I will be left with my youngest son (he's a sophmore) and his activities (which he just does band) and a lot more time on my hands. He just started driving and so neither of them have been at home a lot and so I have started feeling that lonesome feeling since I spend so much time with them now. >SNIFF< >SNIFF< So I figure if I get to barrel racing I won't miss them so much and will have some really cool ladies to hang with! :cheeze:

Farel...Congrats on your run this past weekend. It doesnt always matter the money you when your happy with your run. Confidence building runs go a longs ways to winning more money down the road.

As for my 1st run....well he fired hard (like a wild man) and went past the 1st a little (not like him) inhaled the 2nd and quit running 3 strides too soon to the 3rd and we barely hit it but he did run all the way out. No he wouldnt have been in the money but he did run 2d time so I am soooo happy with him. I run him again Wednesday and he will know where the 1st barrel is this time and I will ride him better to the 3rd. I am pleased with him and it will bet better. Two Bits goes this afternoon in the open at #185

I'm getting ready for Xtreme! I have been off my horse since May and got the okay to go back to riding him and I have been riding everyday in mud, rain, cold, etc. I don't care what the weather is, I'm riding!! I rode early today also before the rain hit. I bet it rained 1 1/2" in just a few minutes. I am soooo tired of dreary, wet weather. What happened to the sunshine?Just wait until June, July and August, you'll be wishing for dreary and wet just to cool it off a little. :cheeze:

i would hate for you to drive out of your way to come get my horse. my mare doesn't buck just has an attitude at first. its my three year old that has to be worked in a round pen first (she doesn't buck but does her little crow hops then after she does her little hops and she levels out then i get on her.) then the other mare i am riding i need to see when she is going to go back to my friends house or if they want me to keep riding her. i am hoping that my three year old filly will be either sold or traded here before January ends. (woohoo) i really need my mare ridden before January 18th (my first NBHA show)I should have thought about it before. WM could have brought her to me at Conroe..... STORY/COMPLAINT #1
there was a trailer parked right in the front where everyone had to walk close to it to either get to the arena or the horse barn....this person that was parked here had 2 dogs, one in a kennel and the other was a rather LARGE blue heeler tied to a rope from the escape door of the trailer and it was long enough for the dog to get under or in the trailer. Anyway...we were leaving to go get lunch and I heard a scream and what sounded like a dog fight...a little boy had INNOCENTLY run by this trailer to catch up to his mom and this #^$%$&*^(*&(*^ DOG attacked him!!!! The kid wasnt doing anything wrong....WHOEVER this rig belonged too should have enough sense to know that their dog was like this and should have either put him in the trailer or parked where it would not have been a danger to other people....I have a real problem with people that cant control their Children or animals. This could have been worse the litttle boy was bitten on the leg a few times, but nothing major happened

I was going into the holding pen for my set to run...5 horses and riders plus 3 or 4 "groupies"....ok...heres the problem...the holding pens vary in size from place to place but we all know how some barrel horses may act prior to entering the arena. These "groupies" were continuously in the way...we couldnt move our horses around like we wanted to b/c of these extra people in there....they WERE NOT helping anyone get their horse ready or in the pen...they were standing there talking and texting....
bottom line is if your not riding or helping someone get into the pen GET YOUR A$$ OUT...we all paid the same entry fees to have the same shot to win...Its hard enough trying not to get run over by alley sour horses...but dodging them and the groupies is a litttle much

knocked my second barrel over. *:) my time was a 16.4 with my knocked over barrel. i figure if it wouldn't have been knocked over i would have had a lower 16.
i am having problems with her shouldering in on the second and i am not quick enough to push her past.. in my head i am thinking push past but my motor/legs are just not working to push her past. i think i am also dropping my reins too early instead of holding her up to go past. (if i am not making since sorry i just don't know how to explain it) hubby says i am just sitting on my horse and not riding. but my run was a lot better from the first show. the first show we had stumbled on the first bad then went to the second and i couldn't recoup so we hit the second and our time was an 18.0. so my time was much better this time around. i am getting so frustrated with myself because i know i am not riding to my ability. and i know i have a nice horse. so frustrating.... *:)

Farel...for the sake of conversation...how is the mare leaving the first barrel? Is she inhaling the first perhaps but starting her turn alittle too soon?
Are you really having to push her over to pick your position on the 2nd? I know you are talking about the 2nd barrel being the issue...but just bear
with me, and answer just what I ask you. I'm using my imagination and trying to "see" your run. If a horse is "shouldering" the 2nd...there are two
possible things that go on. #1..your approach from the 1st to the 2nd is not right affecting your ability to keep her body in an upright position as
you run across the pen, if you are not leaving the first correctly the first couple of strides out of the first the horse's ribcage is already fixed and in a downward position....extremely hard to pick it back up and also having to lift with your hand (lift meaning move off the hand) as you run. #2..your
horse is leaving the first in a correct position, but "pointing" her turn way too soon, two strides before you get to the barrel are you feeling the horse
drop and "push" into your hand? If you feel that, you are not getting to the point of the turn and you have to physically free the horse up in that
spot in order to be able to get her to hold her pocket. That requires some easy tuning that I'm sure you can do. If any of this sounds familiar, let me know, and I'll try to help if I can.

You should contact ITDASH at the Diamond W in Alvarado. If they aren't having an event I think they will rent you a stall. It's not that far from Glen Rose...about 30 miles straight down Hwy 67.

OK deedoe....I need to know EXACTLY what you broke...what it took to fix it....and any precautions that the MD might have given you. I will get an exercise program together and arrange for a friend of mine to drop by and show them to you...and if she cant do it I will drive up there and do it myself.OK...I basicly broke the ball off my Femur bone known as the neck of the femur bone to the ball? (left leg) Took 4 screws in the bone to repare it. I also fractured my left wrist on the big bone...don't know the technecal names??? I am just in a splint for my wrist..it should be fine. The only worry that we have is if the blood flow doesnt return to the femur ball...then I will be looking at a hip replacement!!!! not what I want to hear!!!! I am not to put any weight on my hip until after I return from the doctors on the 23rd of this month. He wants to make sure the bone is growing back.

well my hubby drives almost two hours too work so when he gets home he doesnt want too go outside all he does is sit in his recliner so when he gets home i have supper done we eat and i try too go ride for 30 minutes and can only ride one horse. I only get to ride one too, time and I'm tired from working all day too. and when I get back, if I'm riding Devil I have to take Lexie for a little spin, cuz if she knows I'm riding she screams the whole time I'm gone.

WM I agree personal visits are the best way to go, but I'm like you - can't get the time off. I'm working extra hours as it is cuz I don't have ANY help!!!! My boss is KILLING me! He's got to hire me a part timer soon, so I can get some of the work load off of me! Anyone know anyone in my area for a part time secretary job?

hey girl...I run Friday am at the wbr and then I'm headed over to Destry's free4all in McGregor it is only 15 minutes away from Waco...I run there sat am and sun am...Destry said they have stalls for Friday night on the grounds but Sat night you would have to put up panels or he has additional stalls reserved about 5 minutes from the arena...it $99 for two runs and I think the late fee is only $20...it's a pretty good pay out for the entry,

Yeap I have. Always look at the swirls and cowlicks before buying. The one on their forehead, and the ones on each side of their mane.I wondered that about cattle as I see them everyday also, Are the swirls on the horses head defined as the same on cattle????
