Title: Keep Josie's Jockey in your prayers!!!
Post by: gbacres on March 05, 2008, 08:17:49 PM
I just found out that she got home and found her paint horse had been thrashing around in his stall and eventually was cast.  She got him up, gave banamine, and immediately took him to Waller Equine through Houston's 5:00 traffic.  T n T spoke  with her moments ago and she was on way home.  Her pony is still at the vet receiving fluids and they said if he was to pull through it would be in a couple of hours.  If not, then a decision would have to be made that she might have to put him down.  I know she was already sick and now has this to add to it.  Just know that we are thinking about you and your pony............ Thanks guys!  This has been one tough day.. Went to work (shouldnt have) and got home to find "Jackson" down cast in his stall.  The stall is totally trashed!  Looks like this has been going on most of the day..  5:00 traffic is a booger on a good day.. but got him to Waller and the vet really thinks he has dead gut.. As heart broken as I am surgery just is not an option.. His blood work, and belly tap were not good..but she said he does still have some gut sounds, not much reflux and still has some white blood cells sooooo maybe...... she didn't want to just put him down with out at least trying ... nor did I... I told her IF he takes a turn for the worst it was ok to put him down..   I have been at this many, many years and this guy is in really bad shape..
This is the sire of LuLu that I lost in the trailer last fall...  I guess some things just may not be in the cards

I really expect a phone call much later tonight or early in the morning and I am ok with that... the man he is named after & who gave him to me is in Heaven watching over him. I lost a good friend in Jack Tarpley a few years ago to cancer... so I said a prayer before I left for Jack to take care of him for me...

Well the vet called this morning about 5:30 with the news I had been dreading all night.. Jackson was just getting worse.  The pain meds, fluids nothing was working so she knew he had dead gut in his intestines..  Surgery wasn't an option and definitely as far gone as he was now it would have been money wasted she thought... so I made the call to go ahead and send him to the Rainbow Bridge were I know Jack was waiting for him.. ( Jack and I had a running battle about how ugly Jackson was thats why he gave him to me)

The loss of a loved one is always a tragic time.  Unlike these thoroughbred folks where the animal is a money machine rather than a member of the family, we feel the loss so much more.  Those of us who know the rider and their ride feel as if we have suffered a loss also.
You have a special Captain Jack hugg.

I wish they would let you pay a bill out.. but nope!  I told the lady at the front desk I would put on my fish-nets and high heels and have the money for her by monday.. I have a couple of people who owe me money I have just been too busy with the Humphrey Benefit to go collect.. well I have already called one man who said come get the money and left the other a message.. I know it will all work out.. this just puts me in a bind after my Finish Line order disapeared at Conroe and being sick and unable to go to work a couple of days this week...

Oh I am just in tears!   upset because of the pneumonia and feel like poop, upset I called the widow of Mr Jack who gave me Jackson and we cried about Jack & Jackson.. Worried because I know Waller will be dogging me for the money immediately    :! and missing work today.  Balanced my check book  >SHOCKED< (and that didn't take long) Was fixing to go dig out my fish-net stockings and stiletto  heels and find a street corner to work  (woohoo)      But I know I have some of the best friends in the world!    <NOT WORTHY>   Between those that I have known for years and those I have met through ebarrelracing and the Humphrey Benefit!  Anything over the $840 will be donated back to Gulf Coast Barrel Racing Association for year end awards!  I will try to feel better and come out to Jack Brooks on Saturday.. Hope to see everyone there!!   And I made a promise to Jackson I would not replace him I would get the cobwebs off Bubba and get him back in shape and go back to hauling him........  (so all my friends need to stay on me about legging him back up)

I know Sandy and I was just asking you what happened to Cowboy while we were at Conroe!   And to add insult to injury...... I put Jackson down yesterday morning @5 and by 8:30 the clinic was calling to "let me know how much I needed to pay them"  and I get home from work today  (my mail runs early before noon)  THERE IS ALREADY A BILL HERE!!!  so after crying all over again.....
