Title: LAURAS CLINIC-Conroe Open 4D w/$500 ADDED & SADDLE GIVEAWAY w/1 more surprise!!
Post by: josies jockey on December 18, 2009, 06:30:12 PM: Due to the OVERWHELMING response the registration table will open at 8am. Anyone not there with paperwork filled out by 8:45 will be passed over and the Waiting List will have the chance to move on to the Main List.
Stalls and RVs will be availible on New Years Eve for anyone needing/wanting to move in. Please get Reservation with Susan.
The clinic will start at 9am.

We MUST be out of the arena no later than 4:30 so Susan can get the ground ready for exhibitions @ 5pm and the Open 4D will start at 7pm.

Gwen, since no one has answered you that I can see, I will tell you what I know. They are only taking 40 pre-signed up peeps. However, they are asking for our paper work beginning at 8 a.m. Whomever does not have that paperwork completed from the pre-signed up peeps gets booted and they start taking the next in line from the waiting list peeps.

I say, come early anyway, and see if you can get Li'l Lil in. I wish you had knows about this and coulda gotten her in for sure. Guess you were peelin' taters - LOL!!

(almost got a BIG ticket coming home) Yes ..the magic number is 40 but I have a good idea several no-shows are listed due to other conflicts.. I can promise the top 6 on the waiting list need to be there and saddled!! As far as the rest of the list... Dont know but anything is possible.. Sorry to have to cut it off.. but Laura is only 1 human and can't clone herself before the New Year.. If you need a stall or RV for New Years Eve let me know so I can give Susan an idea how late she needs to stay.. Myself and Laura will be there New Years Eve ...... who knows might even find a grill and do our own party at the arena!

i saw a 1/2 shite 1/2 TB when i was at Dr. Finleys wednesday and man that dude was HUGE!!! poor thing he was limping really bad on his back right leg.

Waiting on a few more confermations and when I get them I will have a base line for people to know when to do what! Haha! You have a Merry Christmas too! Right now thats all there is to do Shovel snow and football. They quit having barrel races in November and wont start back up until March! Thankfully I will already be back in Texas by then!!

Getting the schedule tweeked.. Have someone who starts colts for a living and rides race horses and barrel horses coming to help Laura out with the fundimentals of breaking colts, drills and the boring stuff we must do with these barrel horses.... also have a mulitple AQHA World Champion and NFR qualifier coming to discuss bits, why this bit works on this, why that bit has this response!! Still waiting on the Farrier to give the thumbs up on being there.. This is going to be a full day!! Everyone don't stay out too late on New Years Eve!!!

Well usually it is delivery on skates but that wouldn't probably work on that surface so how about on horse back. hahahaha And I can't do grits either!

I just want to second what Ropin said. Kayla, your efforts make all this worthwhile. There has been a lot of talk about which race has more payout, prizes, etc. etc. blah blah. But truth is when we (us poor barrel racers) have a producer such as yourself having our backs and working her tail off for us, this is the kind of race WE WILL ALWAYS CHOOSE TO SPEND OUR HARD EARNED MONEY AT!!

This weekend at Conroe exemplifies what barrel racing should be all about. The clinic proceeds benefit the family of one whom we all loved for what he did for our industry. The Super Show proceeds will kick off our TX 30 year. NONE OF THE LEFT OVER WILL FEED ANYONE'S FAMILY!

Olneykat made a point in another thread - I can choose to spend my barrel racing $$ anywhere. However, I do hate it when producers stack great shows on top of one another and it becomes a "who can get more people there" kind of deal. Just give us good ground, reasonable entry fees, a little money to win, and throw in awesome prizes and fellowship - and we are there!! Nuff said.

I simply picked up the phone a couple of weeks ago and asked for 'a donation' nothing more, nothing less... he was swamped but said he'd get back to me.. Never heard and didn't want to bug him.. so I went on trying to get other things.. tonight as I was walking in the house.. he calls and says "do I send this to you?" I'm thinking great! We got a breastcollar, headstall.... Oh NO! I almost dropped my bags on my poor cat.. A SADDLE!!!! Stacy has always stepped up to the plate to donate, help out, give! When my trailer went poof.... he sent me 3 saddles until I figured out what I wanted! This is the kind of man who you can take to the bank his "word" which is exactly the kind of man we are honoring this weekend! Stacy said he never had the pleasure of meeting Booger.. I think the two of them would have gotten along great! I will try to work on the Sponsor List tomorrow.. (still have a few things in the works)

Sweetie, you know I am there for you one thousand percent!! I must say that when I read our draw this morning (thanks, Tiffany, BTW - nice work!) that I got the flutterbys in my stomach, too!! My mantra for this week is ride for myself, have fun, and LET MY HORSE DO HIS JOB!! We'll see how that works out for us!!

After our time in the spotlight, think of all those hours of talking and getting to make new friends - I'm saving my words all week long for this weekend ...

Gotta be there by 8am!!!!!!!!! Its a 2.5 hour haul.....depending on traffic and I like to leave early. You still coming? need a ride? I am in the clinic! As far as my boys eating...they only get dinner....but I imagine I will wake up, throw them a scoop of grain while I shower and warm the truck up....then they will be loaded and on the road. Both are pretty good haulers. Shoot, Gabe will be getting there and going right into his stall.....so, no sweat there! Joe is the poor kid who will get his butt rode off this weekend!!!

Mom is a 2x Champion of the Ft. Worth Livestock Show and Rodeo and has won the Austin Travis County Livestock Show and
Rodeo 7 times!! Yep 7 times!!....A world show qualifier and top 10 finalist in the 1D in Augusta several times, winner of the NBHA TX State 1-D Sr's, from futurity $$ earners and champions and has sold horses all over the US and Canada. Mom has won the D & G Consistant Horse Award not just once but several times...Just this year alone she won both the Open 1D and the Sr 1-D in Tx. 23. Mom retired from the public training of barrel horses about 18 yrs ago, and now only rides for herself and considers herself a "weekend warrior" (hardly!!) But I needed her help here to help give you the best clinic that I could
give you and she graciously agreed to come out of retirement this one day.

I could think of no one better to TEACH you...than the woman who TAUGHT me so much....

Gotta be there by 8am!!!!!!!!! Its a 2.5 hour haul.....depending on traffic and I like to leave early. You still coming? need a ride? I am in the clinic! As far as my boys eating...they only get dinner....but I imagine I will wake up, throw them a scoop of grain while I shower and warm the truck up....then they will be loaded and on the road. Well Hubby did get my truck fixed but I now have to drive Tisha down, she is worried about driving that far and in unfamiliar territory. So I said I would drive her. So thank you for the offer and if I decide to stay then I will need a ride back.

She's like a treasure chest full of goodies and so willin to share those goodies with everyone today. I took several trips out to where she was at on "the hill" and she looked like she was thoroughly enjoyin herself. And numerous times durin the day I heard nothing but good comments from folks that had been out there with her. Such a wealth of knowledge all packed into a cute cute package. Lovely Lady. Your a lucky woman to have a mom like her.
Gail Hillman and Ernie Cox both deserve big thanks too. They did an awesome job talking about....well seemed like they talked about alotta stuff. Interesting stuff...very informative stuff about bits and feet...etc. Thanks to each and every one of you all...and all the folks that worked so hard puttin this together. Kayla..you did an outstanding job.

Today was way fun!!!! If you didn't get to go....you missed out...BIG TIME!!!

And all day when we passed each other, she would stop and talk to me and ask what was my number, how did I do, etc. Just like a converstion at any barrel race but it was with one of the best in the biz - amazing! But the best part was just listening to her. I could velcro myself to her for a year and not learn enough!! Her many years in our pasttime are really amazing and her knowledge seemed boundless ...

The clinic - can't say enough about how well run it was, and for coming together on such short notice and to have absolutely no kinks, well, just good planning and participation is all!!

Laura, Laura, Laura - really, an umbrella for keeping all the verbal vomit off of you recently? How very appropriate and very, very touching. I will absolutely cherish it as a testament to what I have learned: Friends don't have always have to agree and we can agree to not see eye to eye and still have love for each other! Bet your legs are killing you today - LOL!!

Speaking of which - THE DIRT WAS FREAKING AWESOME YESTERDAY - CAN'T WAIT FOR TODAY!! But, geez, will someone warm that place up a little??

I think most of all, The clinic was awesome for me and Joe for the fact that we had a LOT of saddle time!!!! Sallie cracked me up when she was like "you know what to do, go do it!" Point was, I needed to drive Joe up into that bit a little more! I had a hard time understanding Laura with the mic, but I think the general gist for me was push him all the way into my turn, get the martingale off of him and dot ask to turn till I get to my point of my turn.......Oh and no chicken wings....lol I cant say enough about Gail Hillman! It was awesome to visit with her! Her and Ernie were a good pair to chat with us about a little of everything!
