Here are instructions on using all the new features on the new calendar. Step by step.

When you click on RSVP the calendar will ask for your email and other info. To RVSP really doesn't mean to are going to go but you are interested in this event and if there are any changes in the event you will get an email the instant it happens

If you have a Mac or iPhone when you click on I calendar it adds the event to the calendar on the mac or iPhone. The iPhone will get you a reminder the of the event on the day and time it happens. I don't use google, yahoo or windows calendar so I can't really tell you how it works but I am guessing it does about the samething

Going back to the main page where you first landed when you got to the page. The first little calendar you can click on makes the events calendar list only the event for that day.

On the smaller calendar on the right hand side you will see the month and year with arrows on either side. Click on the arrow on the right and it will take you to the next month on the event calendar. The dark days on the calendar are days there are events scheduled. The red day is todays date and the white day is the day there are no events on the calendar.

We used to be able to search for event within a certain number of miles of a zip code.  Is there still a way to do that?  I have mashed buttons and played around with the advance search options but I can't seem to find a way to do that.

You can search by State  by zip code and even by arena and with in 100 miles of you

Though this format offer a greater depth of information, I do not care for it.  You have my apologies.  It takes too much time out of an already busy and hectic day to find things close to me.  The way it was before, I could just print the listing out and go through and highlight the towns that was in a certain radius of home when I had a moment.  The way it is now, I have to click on each and every link of arena in which I am not familiar with their name, in order to know where it is.  I have been out of the barrel racing scene for a while and so here are a lot of new arenas I have never heard of or maybe they have had a change in ownership and therefore a change in name.  This is not an efficient means of getting things done for myself as I am sure for others, as well.  The town and state included in the initial link for an event would be extremely helpful.

I understand that. It would help if folks posting the event would put the city state in the title. When it comes to posting more than one event it is much simpler. Changing an event is much easier and making it to where it appears on the front page is a snap. It fits better on a phone which is googles new rule if you want your name to climb in the search results. As far as people using it that number is over 4 times as many since we switched.

I have been thinking about this. Would it help if the City State were displayed? I may be able to fix that pretty quick. As far as a search for those near you that may take a while to get going.

I find it much harder to figure out where things are since you have to click every link.  Putting the city and state would help a lot.  The yellow background on some events is distracting and makes it harder to navigate also.  The old format was much easier to quickly find races and all the info was right there without having to click and then go back to the main list.  Love your site, though.  :)

The other one had the same color yellow background. I will work on getting the city state to show up though. The other one was burning too much time. Lots of people didn't put the arena put spaces and tabs all in it that had to be removed put the wrong dates and changing a mistake could burn lots of time. This one saves us at least an hour or more a day.

That is fantastic that you are getting more hits as a result!  Grow our sport!  Thank you for looking into it and I am glad that I am not the odd man out of needing to see what city/state the race is at before clicking on it.  Needing it to fit smart phones as wells is very appreciated but some of us are still stuck in the dark ages with pet dinosaurs and smart phone screens don't exactly suite me.   ;D ;D  I like to print, highlight what is close, and then go write down in a planner the city location so that I can pick and choose what I am able to attend depending on what my day/life is like at the time according to other, prescheduled stuff I can't get out of that is already in the planner. You are doing great in stream lining and keeping the sport in the light ages! :-*

Started working on it last night.  I have done a little reading and I know it is possible.
Trying to do that and hundred other things so it may take a while. Could be days or weeks right now I don't Know. But I am working on it.

Just wanted to say that I still miss being able to search by mileage radius.  Is there any way that feature can come back?

The new calendar is lots easier to maintain. Takes seconds to fix someones mistake VS hours on the other one. The new calendar does a lot of things in the background people don't see that saves us time. When an event is added that is featured not only is it automatically added to our sites front page but also added to others sites automatically to a few other sites. Saving time again for us.
The search has been fixed you can search within a 100 mile radius of you
Title: Using the new events calendar (Search By State)
Post by: Bob Gould on February 05, 2017, 12:55:11 PM
First you have to click on search on the right hand side of the events page.
Then you have to have a start date and end date. The start date is normally todays date if you don't want to start with todays date pick the date you do want to start.

Then Click on the word state in the name search area you are searching by state. For some reason people have put their email address their city and their states in the zip code area instead of the zip code. the state search starts with Texas if you want another state click on the button and chose it

Then you have to choose a category. The search will not happen till you do. After that click on began search at the bottom of the page
