Level Headset

(1/1)

cgirl815:
How can I remind my horse to keep a level headset at a trot? I was thinking of getting a some sort of martingale, but which one?
Thanks

Freckles:
Have you tried teaching your horse on the ground to lower his head?

What I mean is standing on the ground pull lead rope straight down, only pressure. Even if your horse moves his head very little release. Then keep doing it. eventually depending on how quickly your horse catches on will depend on how long this takes.

Once you have this down when you are on there back at a walk, trot, loap you can evenly pull back with pressure only and your horse will lower its head and keep it there. ANytime you feel their head is too high slight pressure the more repitition you do the easier it will be.

Okay that is what I do. NOw if you already know this information then I am not sure.

Thanks for listening. :* <EXCUSE ME?> <COLOR GRIN> :look: <()>

Soft hands that understand to release when the horse responds correctly are
the way to a good headset.
