Keep Josie's Jockey in your prayers!!!
« on: March 05, 2008, 08:17:49 PM »
I just found out that she got home and found her paint horse had been thrashing around in his stall and eventually was cast.  She got him up, gave banamine, and immediately took him to Waller Equine through Houston's 5:00 traffic.  T n T spoke  with her moments ago and she was on way home.  Her pony is still at the vet receiving fluids and they said if he was to pull through it would be in a couple of hours.  If not, then a decision would have to be made that she might have to put him down.  I know she was already sick and now has this to add to it.  Just know that we are thinking about you and your pony............ That stinks!  That is something you never want to deal with when you're healthy, much less when you have pneumonia!  Hope everything goes ok for her horse.   (((((((HUGS))))))))
You can go and worry about the competition, and worry whether your horse will work, or whether you've selected the right bridle.  But if you've done your homework, you should be able to go out and just enjoy your ride.---The late cutting horse trainer Greg Ward of Tulare, California.

Thanks guys!  This has been one tough day.. Went to work (shouldnt have) and got home to find "Jackson" down cast in his stall.  The stall is totally trashed!  Looks like this has been going on most of the day..  5:00 traffic is a booger on a good day.. but got him to Waller and the vet really thinks he has dead gut.. As heart broken as I am surgery just is not an option.. His blood work, and belly tap were not good..but she said he does still have some gut sounds, not much reflux and still has some white blood cells sooooo maybe...... she didn't want to just put him down with out at least trying ... nor did I... I told her IF he takes a turn for the worst it was ok to put him down..   I have been at this many, many years and this guy is in really bad shape..
This is the sire of LuLu that I lost in the trailer last fall...  I guess some things just may not be in the cards

I really expect a phone call much later tonight or early in the morning and I am ok with that... the man he is named after & who gave him to me is in Heaven watching over him. I lost a good friend in Jack Tarpley a few years ago to cancer... so I said a prayer before I left for Jack to take care of him for me...

Kayla, so sorry to hear about your colt...many many prayers coming your way from Pasadena...I did not get on last night so up at 2:00 am and reading posts...I just hate when me, mom, sons, and husband or one of us can not be home at one time or the other...I just hate to leave the barn un-attended, in case something like this happening...its scary...but think positive..and with all our prayers coming your way, things will turn around for you and Jackson.... <(..)> <(..)> <(..)>

Gee Kayla, so sorry to hear this, I sure hope he pulls through.  I am sure this crazy winter we have had (or haven't had) has got o be hard on the horses.  Mine don't know whether to shed or grow another winter coat.
