Laura - I'm sorry for what happened to your trailer. It does sound like a vindictive thing to do. It sounds like someone who has a grudge against you. I'm glad you are getting motion cameras. I would also pick up a sign to post on your front gate that says something along the lines of private property, tresspassers will be prosecuted. Personally I'd shoot first, ask questions later.....but I've been known to get a little hot under the collar.
Let us know what the police lady says about your trailer. I hope and pray that whoever did this gets picked up by the police before any of us get ahold of them. I'm glad that Jamie is showing you how to use that shotgun. I know you said you don't really like them, but as long as you know how to handle them and use safety measures, it's a good way to protect yourself.
