Hope they have the fingerprints on file because if they don't then they might not be able to. IF they get enough Probable Cause on a suspect, then they can get a warrant for the prints of that person. Also, it can take awhile to get the results back depending on your crime lab. Were they able to find any blood? I would think with the amount of damage then they would have maybe nicked themselves. Also, I'm sure your dept does this but keep an eye out on the pawn shops around your area. They might pawn that diamond ring and the pawn shops usually keep records of who they buy from.
