Clayton (Scamper's Clone)
« on: November 03, 2008, 02:51:33 PM »
I know that some of you would never even consider breeding to him, because he's a clone.  And for many of you that raises ethical and moral issues.

I know that many have argued, and I would agree, that just because he and Scamper have the same genetics does not mean he will have the heart or even ability to do what Scamper has done.

I know that I will never breed to him cause quite frankly I couldn't afford it and will probably never own a mare that they would consider as a cross to him.

But have any of you been out to his site and taken a look at him?

I will have to go look.
Yesterday is history.
   Tomorrow a mystery.

You can go to charmayne's site and there is a link at the top of her home page.

I will say this, I'm partial to bays . . .
And as a bay, he's a nice one.

He's got a cute little head that I really didn't like when I saw his foal pics, but that he has grown into quite nicely.

I am not sure that is an approved site for linking so that's why I didn't post it.
But yeah that is it.
the breeding contract is . . . something, to say the very least.

What is that fee like compared to some of the proven stallions out there?

I'd say it's pretty high. I know of several that I would breed to with speed indexes over 100 that are around $1500.

WOW!
I noticed that even the stallions that she lists on her website are $750 and $1000.

Frenchman's guy is breeding for $4000, and that's the highest I could find.

I don't think she wants everybody and their dogs lining up.
Still a squeeky wheel. . .

I think she sees the perfect marketing opportunity to profit from the horse that everyone has always said was The Perfect barrel horse. And considering what she paid to get him cloned she needs to get that much fee to get her money back.

I agree with this, as well.

As long as you can't imagine it, as long as you can't see it, then it is not going to happen for you!

Yeah ,the fee is high, but I think it is good. I think that a lot of the "great" ones are being OVER bred.... :\\(((
