Rothamalaa.  I have never met so many hybrids in one day!!!!!!!!!!!!!  If anyone ever has a blow out around Hamilton, TX, and don't have a spare,  just keep driving till you get to the next town!!!!  Whatever you do DO NOT GO IN ALLSUPS!!! They have wild chipmunks and people that stand outside that look like they just got off the Jeepers Creepers movie set. Y'all would've had to have been there or watch me try to explain it.  Its one of those cheezer crest kind of things.  Yes me and Lala do talk in Ebonics, but we know exactly what we mean.  Just ask the CB.

Laura is right though conformation has alot to do with the way a horse can travel and sometimes it cant be fixed.

Hey Deb - if you give that shot today, when are you gonna give mr. gussie the next one?  Just curious - sometimes I wonder if it is better to give shots or feed thru - I know you miss some with feeding, but I hate making a pin cushion outta my boy!!

Horses with underslung heels = I have a mare that has underslung heels and pigeon toed she has never had a lameness issue. If the horse is underslung and You cant get any heel growth a wedge isn't a bad idea until you have heel. I use a aluminum wedged shoe for 2 - 3 shoeings then go to a steel over time the aluminum will crush them just a bad and the steel doesn't . Reason for that is aluminum is lighter and gives with the back half of the hoof and steel does not. As far as getting X-Rays if the farrier would like to have them as well as the owner . I like to see X -Rays to its not a bad thing to have.

My mare is pigeon toed also, do you do anything different in you shoeing to adjust for that or just shoe it and let it be? I know you can't correct the issue but I was just wondering if you do anything different in shoeing a pigeon toed?

U can infact clean out around the heels and frog to allow this room. if the room is still not enough the equipack will help pad the frog and the shoe. it is a procedure but it is very possible to make it work and keep the horse sound and comfortable.

Great, thanks for the info. I am learning so much, glad you started this forum.

I shoe to the foot of the horse less problems that way.
U can make a few adjustments to kinda correct it but in 3-4 weeks your back to square one.

Dr. Collier over in Field Store told me Jack was pigeon toed and to leave it alone?  That it wasn't really a problem, and just how he is?
