I'm from good old Illinois. I live in Harvard, "milk capital of the world". Since no one wrote in saying they were anywhere near IL, I live about 2 hours north of Chicago, and 20 minutes from the Wiscosin border. I am about half an hour from McHenry Co. fairgrounds arena, 20minutes from Boone Co. fair arena, and 45 minutes from Horse Fair Park (Spring Grove Arena to most of us) for all you IL barrel racers.

I thought I lived in a really small town before I read about some of you girls in Texas. We have an 8000 population, but that's in town. I live in "rural" Harvard. I have about 2 neighbors and a tree farm close to me. That's it.

Every year Harvard has this big parade thing. It's called Harvard Milk Days. It's like a celebration of being the milk capital of the world during World WarII when we had 5 railroad tracks leading out of the town. We even have a statue of a cow. Her name is Harmilda. Get it.... HARvard MILk DAys.

I guess ya'll don't want to know the whole history of my little town, so I'll stop there. <:)

I live about an hour drive west of IL in Franklin County Missouri.... Still pretty far away though! Have you ever been to Arlington Park???? I want to go there to see the Arlington Million or a Breeder's Cup one of these days SO badly, but for now I have to live with my occasional trip to Fairmount. :) My areas rural right now, but according to growth patterns is going to grow over the next several years which means all these area I like to ride and all the  beautiful fields are going to turn into subdivisions; there seems to be at least one good sized subdivision going up in this town every year and another local highway gets more and more grown up every time I see it..... :(

Welcome JY!  You know when you live in a small town when you pick your kid up from daycare (the local Baptist church) and get in line behind 5 other 4 door dirty diesels.

Harmilda.... that's cute!! What a neat story about your town. I don't know that Simms has a claim to fame. Other than back in the 80's  & early 90's the 4th of July rodeo was supposed to be quite the social event.

Ok, ya'll are killin me with the drive times to arenas....gotta add ours......

3 hours to Cowtown (Ft Worth Stockyards)
1 hr 15 minutes to Josey Ranch
15 minutes to New Boston RoundUp Club
20 minutes to DeKalb Rodeo Arena
6 hours to OKC
5 hours to Jackson MS
3 hours to Monroe LA
30 minutes (give or take a little) to ITDASH's
45 minutes to CodyH's

You guys are tickling me with all the destination post lets see:
I'm 30 minutes from ShowPlace Arena, Memphis Tn.
15 minutes from our old Saddle Club, ( we are having to move this year)
30 minutes from our new Saddle Club,
        5 hours from Jackson,
       1 1/2 hours from Tunica
        7 1/2 hours from Joseys
got a bunch of little ones around here, but you guys wouldn't know them.,
I can relate to small towns, the town, i'm from is like population 25-30, yep thats it we had a railroad crossing, a store that the owner lived upstairs, a 4 room school house that my mom went to, a gas station, vol. firedept, and the  postoffice, and 2 churches,  and that was back when town was hopping, now allthat is left is the 2 churches, whicn have alternating weekend services, a new store, and the voluteer fire dept. it is kinda of sad when I go home, I did get some of the p.o. boxes from the old post office, they where the combination kind, not that I ever knew it just asked for your mail and it wasn't a big deal, try asking for you mail now at the post office.
