OT Question about dogs...akc -vs- ckc registration
« on: February 04, 2005, 09:31:38 AM »
What is or is there a difference between AKC and CKC registration?  I have a great dane female that is CKC and I was wondering what the difference is or if there is really one.

AKC is the American Kennel Club and CKC is the Canadian Kennel Club. Here is the link to CKC
http://www.ckc.ca/

Hope this helps.

Well...I guess there's more than one and you'll have to check your registration papers to see which one it is.

I know when I was in the dog business all my dogs were AKC, and as the years went on they started coming with DNA on all stud dogs which was ok then they wanted all females done and at the I had 2 studs and 12 females and if I remember corectly it was $55.00 a test, then they started raising the price of the litters. Needless to say that was one of the many reason why I got out of the business. I do know that if you want a pup reg. with AKC both parents must have AKC numbers, now with CKC I don't think they have to, but not sure.
