Rear at the Beginning of the Pattern
« on: February 06, 2005, 10:51:50 PM »

I recently bought a Quarter horse from a young girl. She has ran him on Barrels and Poles. When I bought him she told me that he likes to rear at the beginning of the pattern, I thought that maybe it was because she was in his mouth all the time. Yesterday I loped him around the set and sure enough he reared at the beginning of the pattern. Any suggestions on how to correct this?

The minute he does his little rearing trick, turn him around 360 degrees on the spot and then go right on as if nothing happened. Don't make a big deal out of it but do the 360 every time he pulls it on you.

This came to me while chopping wood the other day. You've heard don't sweat the small stuff. I say save it for later and use it for kindling
