East Meets West at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame Japanese film star learns Cowgirl Basics on Friday, January 21, 2005 from 2
to 5 p.m.

Fort Worth, Texas - Becoming a true cowgirl takes a lifetime but Rina Uchiyama, Japanese television and film star, will have a crash course at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame on Friday, January 21, 2005, from 2 to 5 p.m., with a little help from National Cowgirl Hall of Fame honoree Pam Minick.

Minick takes Uchiyama under her watchful eye and plans to transform this Japanese girl into a Cowgirl through fashion, cultural and cowgirl advice. Uchiyama travels to Fort Worth as her first stop on a Lone Star tour, shooting a new television show for Japan's Fuji Television Network where she and co-navigator Masanobu Katsumura adventure across Texas experiencing what cowgirl life entails. Uchiyama's first "cowgirl class" will be at the National Cowgirl Museum before moving onto other classic Cowtown sites such as the Fort Worth Stockyards and Billy Bob's Texas.

The National Cowgirl Museum is not only Uchiyama's first stop in Fort Worth but in Texas. From Fort Worth, she will travel to San Antonio's famous River Walk and then spend three days on a working ranch in Bandera, Texas where her new-found skills will be tested.

The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame is the only museum in the world dedicated to honoring women of the American West who have displayed extraordinary courage and a pioneer spirit in their trail blazing efforts. The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame's 172 honorees include pioneers, artists, writers, entertainers, humanitarians, businesswomen, educators, ranchers and rodeo cowgirls including: Sacajawea, principal guide for the Lewis and Clark expedition; painter Georgia O'Keeffe; potter Maria
Martinez; writer Laura Ingalls Wilder; sharpshooter Annie Oakley; Enid
Justin, who created the multimillion dollar Nocona Boot Company; Hollywood icon Dale Evans and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.
