Donna Vester Update
« on: August 23, 2005, 12:37:37 PM »
Tamet,
Just wanted to give you an update on Donna Vester.  She had a really
rough weekend.  They are trying to get her off some of the drugs and her
pain level has been excruciating.  They put her in the soft shell back
brace and tried to get her up Sunday but there was too much
pain......They have moved her to a regular room at Harris downtown.
They were able to get her sitting in chair yesterday for short
periods......the new meds has really affected her and she's really
sleepy and disoriented.  Everything is kind of at a stand still until
they can get med's regulated and she can get some of her equilibrium
back.....her hand/eye co-ordination is off and when she moves her arms
she looses balance.  She cannot stand alone at this time but there is
hope and the Therapist are not letting up on her. We have no idea as to
when she may be able to leave the hospital......

Please add her to the prayer list.........I'll keep you updated as we go
forth.

Thanks,

Leslie Gilley

Thanks for the update Leslie, I've been praying for Donna and believe God will give her the strength to come through this and ride again.  I know she's in terribly pain, let's all pray God will take her pain away.  He can do it!

Prayers and love from here!  (We must fight hard because it is obvious that Satan is alive and well.)

Thanks Leslie for the update:

They are still trying to get the right combo of med's so that she can function and not be in so much pain.  They got her up and on a walker yesterday while I was there and she walked from the bed to the door and back with help from two Therapist........It was wonderful to see her accomplish it......She was in severe pain afterwards but they say she has to endure and continue forward so that she will not loose any ground while everything is healing.  It's going to be a long, long hard struggle but with Donna's perseverance I believe she will succeed.  Thanks a million for all the prayers for without them she would not be where she is at this time in her recovery..........

Thanks again!
Leslie

Donna got bucked off her colt and broke her back.  She has two titanium rods and several bolts and screws holding her together.  She will walk again and may possibly ride again.  The dr's told her she only lost about 20% of her mobility.  She's at Health South now doing rehab for the next two weeks, then will go and stay at her sisters for a while.  She's already up and walking w/ the help of a walker and they seem to have her meds figured out so she's not so groggy.  She's still in pain, but she's a strong woman and she's gonna be OK.  The dr.'s told her if she hadn't been in as good of shape it could've been alot worse.  They also told her if the break had been an 1/8 difference either way she'd be paralyzed.  Keep praying for her for a speedy recovery.  She seems to be in good spirits, but still needs our prayers.
