I just got an email yesterday announcing a new Cowboy Capital Race at Lone Star Arena in Stephenville for Nov. 3, 4, and 5. So, you're not without any where to go.  BB)

I guess they didn't have many pre-entries?  If I remember correctly, there were lots last year, but I did hear some complaints about the ground conditions.  I like running there, I had that one on the calander!  WERE ANY OF YOU ENTERED?   ???  <..>

I was kind of put off by the was it was scheduled to run. You could pick which hour you wanted to run, that's true, but then you had to wait around all day to see if you were one of the top 15 in your D to make the final run. I guess it wouldn't be that bad if you ran later in the day. But, if you ran early it would be the pits.

Did they not post the results throughout the day as the barrel race was going on?  Did they wait until the last runner of the day to post anything?

I think they cancelled a little fast also, they had a whole month left for pre-entries.  I know lots of people who were planning on going, just didn't enter yet.  I think most people wait to enter until the last minute anyway & they would probably have lots of late entries. 
I sent Wildfire an email asking why they cancelled & this is what I got back.................... 

After tweaking last year's format to hopefully appeal to more barrel racers
and after advertising our barrel race for over a month now, we have had very
little interest in the event.  For this reason the Wildfire Barrel race
scheduled for November 4-5, 2006 has been canceled.  Thank you for your
interest in the event, feel free to call me at the office if you have any
further questions.
