We have a mare that we would like to raise a colt out of for next year. I’m new to this and was wondering when would we want to breed her in order to have a colt next spring
ven though the last Impressive link in her pedigree is N/N I’m still concerned that I haven’t heard of any Impressive bred horses being successful in the barrel pen. I have also heard that their attitude and learning ability are not very desirable.
I have 5 horses and one is a Pinto. She has been having problems lately so my Dad said I can get her in Foal.
I got a stallion in Feb and I have been working with him on barrel. He is really good at it so far at a trot.
hether or not you can use your thoroughbred competitively will all depend on her temperment and willingness to work for you.
I have a 5 year old Appaloosa. We got her when she was 4 years old and had to break her ourselves. I want to enter her in barrels in the rodeo. Do you think that she would be a good horse for that, and if so, what is the best way to start teaching her?
I know this probably sounds dumb, but how far away are the barrels suppose to be. And the poles too?
A standard barrel pattern in the WPRA is as follows: 60′ from the score line to the 1st and 2nd barrels 90′ from the 1st to the 2nd barrel 105′ from the 1st and 2nd barrels to the 3rd barrel This is a large pattern and many times it won’t fit in smaller arenas.
Could you please advise how far apart to set the racing barrels. I have an Arabian and wanted to see if you she could do this.
I know how far apart to set the barrels for standard barral racing. But how far apart do you set them for a 4-H pattern? Just a little need-to-know.
We have six horses and a therapeutic riding business in the North Country New York.
I would definitely try to keep my barrels at least 21 feet off the fence for the 1st and 2nd barrels and 35-40 feet for the 3rd barrel.
Hi how many poles have to be in a pole bending compation? ( 6, 7, or 8 ?) Thanks Martha,
