Oklahoma City, April 24, 2007 – The National Reining Horse Youth Association, an AQHA Alliance Partner, announces seven new regional training clinics across the United States. The clinics are designed to help reining enthusiasts learn from some of the best trainers in the reining business. The Regional Clinic Series is open to all riders, youth and adults. Royal Canin Canada voluntarily recalls pet food products that may contain contaminated rice protein concentrate Following Royal Canin USA’s discovery of a melamine derivative in rice gluten in some of its dry pet food products, Royal Canin Canada has decided to remove Sensible Choice Diet and certain veterinary prescribed specialty diet products from distribution.
One in four dogs will die of cancer, according to the Morris Animal Foundation. But within the equivalent of a dog’s lifetime of 10 to 20 years, the foundation intends to find cures for cancer in dogs. Cancer is ranked the number one disease of concern among owners. The American Hog Farm, a 1500-animal facility in Ceres, has been quarantined by the California Department of Food and Agriculture, and lab testing has revealed the presence of the chemical melamine in pig urine. Additional testing of tissues, serum and urine from animals at the farm is underway at the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory at UC Davis to determine if melamine is present in meat. Royal Canin USA announces the voluntary nationwide recall of its dry pet food products containing rice protein concentrate The company has determined there is a melamine derivative in the rice protein concentrate in some of its dry pet food products. Although Royal Canin USA has no confirmed cases of illness in pets, they have decided to voluntarily remove all dry pet food products containing rice protein concentrate. The company also announced that it will no longer use any Chinese suppliers for any of its vegetable proteins. The Blue Buffalo Company has recalled Spa Select Kitten dry food with the printed instructions “Best Used By Mar. 07 08 B.” Blue Buffalo received rice protein concentrate from Wilbur-Ellis, the same company
The Blue Buffalo Company has announced a recall on one production run of its Spa Select Kitten dry food. The production code on the recalled product is: “Best Used By Mar. 07 08 B.” The company stated that the rice protein concentrate used for this production run was obtained from Wilbur-Ellis, the same company that supplied rice protein concentrate to Natural Balance. Test results received late April 18 indicated that the rice protein concentrate tested positive for melamine. Wilbur-Ellis Company is voluntarily recalling all lots of the rice protein concentrate the San Francisco company’s Feed Division has shipped to pet food manufacturers because of a risk that rice protein concentrate may have been contaminated by melamine. Wilbur-Ellis noted that it obtained rice protein from a single source in China and shipped to a total of five U.S. pet food manufacturers located in Utah, N.Y., Kansas and two in Missouri.
