Adobe Acrobat, Reader vulnerable to hacks

Adobe Systems, whose software is used by millions of people to read documents sent over the Internet, said some of its programs contain a flaw that makes personal computers vulnerable to attack. In an October 5 posting on its Web site, Adobe said the “critical” flaw is incorporated into versions of Adobe Reader and Acrobat software, and could allow malicious programs to get on to a PC without the user knowing about it. Broadcasters hope digital TV ad blitz clicks

Broadcasters are planning an ad campaign to inform people that their analog TV sets will quit working in 2009 when programs begin airing only in the digital format. The effort comes amid congressional concerns that too little is being done to let the public know that the TV system Americans have known since the mid-20th century will change on February 17, 2009. Seeking to Save Shelter Dogs From Death

Dogsindanger.com works with more than 120 shelters nationwide that destroy dogs. How much time the dogs get before death varies from state to state. In New York City, a stray dog must be kept a minimum of three days, while a shelter has the legal right to immediately destroy an animal that is abandoned there by its owner.
