UNWANTED HORSE COALITION OFFERING RESOURCES FOR HORSE OWNERS

The Unwanted Horse Coalition (UHC), which operates under the auspices of the American Horse Council, includes over 20 national organizations. It was created to educate horse owners and potential horse owners about what it means to “Own Responsibly.” Recent news reports on the apparent increase in the numbers of unwanted horses indicate it might be time for the industry and horse owners to step up their efforts to educate themselves about potential solutions. JOHN DEERE NAMED SPONSOR OF RACING CHALLENGE CHAMPION OWNER AWARD

The American Quarter Horse Racing Journal, January 31, 2008 – John Deere is the new sponsor of the Bank of America® Racing Challenge Champion Owner award, presented each year to the owner who accrues the most points in Racing Challenge competition. John Deere will award a new GatorTM  utility vehicle (an approximate value of $10,000) to the 2008 John Deere Champion Owner.  Owner points are accumulated by running horses in Bank of America Racing Challenge regional finals or John Deere Bonus Challenge races.  Points are awarded on a sliding scale, based on order of finish.
