ACCELERATED VACCINATION COMBATS HORSE INFLUENZA OUTBREAKS

Vaccinating unprotected members of an at-risk horse population during an influenza outbreak has not always been recommended for various reasons, a primary one being that a protective immune response to typical killed-virus vaccines was not rapid enough with the recommended 4-6-week interval between the two initial shots required. AVMA seeks member input to shape strategic plan

Schaumburg, IL — The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is asking for input from its members to help shape the future of the association and the profession. The AVMA is initiating this “Future Critical Issues Scan” as part of its ongoing effort to reevaluate and revise its strategic plan, which was last approved by the AVMA Executive Board in April 2008.
