New Opportunities for Palominos

PHBA has adopted a new horse registration system that will improve turnaround and processing times for members and Palomino owners.  This new system will provide PHBA members a faster and more convenient way to register horses, at a cost savings for the association. PHBA maintains records on more than 88,000 horses and owners, more than 250,000 horse show entries and more than five hundred horse shows. UF students hand severed at equine facility

An 18-year-old University of Florida student had her left hand severed Saturday in an accident at the UF Equine Research Center in Marion County. The accident occurred at noon at the center, 2655 N.W. 100th St. in Marion County, according to a Marion County Sheriff’s Office report. Marion sheriff’s Capt. Eddie Leedy said the woman, identified as Courtney Mason, 18, of Lake Placid, was sitting in the passenger seat of a UF vehicle, holding a rope lead line. The practice of transporting horses to another country for slaughter is NOT illegal. However, many feel like its cruelty to animals.
