CANADIAN PROTESTS TARGET HORSE PROCESSING

More than 100 anti-slaughter protestors targeted horse processing plants, restaurants, and specialty butcher shops in 10 Canadian cities Oct. 4 to support C-544, legislation that would amend the Canadian Health of Animals Act to forbid the import and transport of horses for slaughter for human consumption in that country.

UNWANTED HORSES: RESCUE AND SANCTUARY ORGANIZATIONS UNABLE TO KEEP UP

Each year there are about 100,000 unwanted horses in the United States, too many for the registered equine rescue and sanctuary groups to handle, according to a recent survey by experts at the University of California, Davis.
