Horse-neglect cases rise as mercury falls

KANSAS CITY, MO — he Humane Society says that it could be months before dozens of neglected horses rescued from a northwest Missouri farm find new homes, but with colder weather approaching, some experts say that the problem of neglected or abandoned horses could get a lot worse. According to Tina Weidmaier of Changing Leads Equine Rescue, it costs around $2,400 a year to keep a healthy horse.
