Washington livestock-inspections bill signed into law

Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire has signed into law a bill that necessitates the inspection of livestock animals within 12 hours of their entry into the state. The bill, which takes effect in June, aims to prevent in-state animals from acquiring diseases and enhance the state veterinarian’s fact-finding tools in case of a disease outbreak.
