2010 Farnam All Around Amateur

The American Quarter Horse Journal, Oklahoma City – The American Quarter Horse Association World Championship Show offers exciting competition for American Quarter Horse Association members November 6 – November 20 at State Fair Park.

The Farnam All-Around Amateur award is the top honor at the Bank of America Amateur World Championship Show. It is awarded to the exhibitor who earns the most points in three or more events in two categories during the show. The winner receives $15,000 plus $1,000 in Farnam product, an original Lisa Perry bronze and a WeatherBeeta blanket.

This year’s Farnam All-Around Amateur Award was presented November 12 to Adalaide Moncrief of Forth Worth, Texas, who showed her 1996 bay gelding, Steady Spirit, in four events.

To earn the award, Moncrief and Steady Spirit earned a world championship in amateur working hunter, a reserve championship in amateur equitation over fences and amateur hunter hack and a seventh in jumping.

Steady Spirit is sired by General Mito and out of African Mimosa (TB) by Steady Growth (TB). He was bred by Kit and Charlie Moncrief of Fort Worth.

Moncrief and Steady Spirit are trained by AQHA Professional Horseman Chuck Briggs of Azle, Texas.
Earning the reserve Farnam All-Around award were Meghan O’Malley and A Chanceof Blueskies. Third went to Whitney Walquist Vicars and Dress This. Fourth was Lauren Eichstadt and Its My Lucky Detail, and fifth went to Christine Sceets and Intangible Award.

The 2010 AQHA World Championship Show is the pinnacle event for American Quarter Horse owners and exhibitors around the world, who must qualify for the event by earning a predetermined number of points to compete in each of the classes representing English, western and halter disciplines. More than 3,300 entries from 13 countries are competing for more than $2.6 million in cash and prizes at this year’s event, November 6-20, at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.
