Hevener discovered the Arabian racing stallion “NAHGUA” at a horse auction, saved him from slaughter and made him popular in over 60 countries. “Nahgua’s story was all about being down on your luck and making your way back to glory.” The stallion’s recent death at age 23 brought cards and email from fans around the world. “Barbero’s great, but he isn’t the only horse hero out there,” says Hevener with a smile. “There are lots of horses with stories to tell.”

The Author knows what he’s talking about. Besides racing his horses, Hevener is a partner in SELKET ARABIANS, one of the oldest and most successful herds of Arabian performance horses in the United States. In the past year alone, horses connected to the Selket breeding program founded by JIM ANDRESON, have won everything from Regional shows to the National Championship of Brazil.
Horse lovers can look forward to filming of the TV documentary “FATE OF THE STALLION” in March, when Nahgua’s last foals are expected to be born.
